Japan's Ishikawa prefectural government confirmed on October 6, 2023 that a serious food poisoning incident occurred at the "Great Falls Sightseeing Flowing Water" restaurant in Tsuhata Town, Japan, in August this year, resulting in the poisoning of 892 people from 18 prefectures in Japan, the youngest of whom has just turned one year old and the oldest is in his 80s, according to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK). Twenty-two of those poisoned were hospitalized.

The Ishikawa prefectural government said that after investigation, campylobacter was detected in the spring water used to make food at the restaurant, confirming that it was the culprit of food poisoning. At present, the operating company of the noodle restaurant involved is organizing compensation and said that it will cease business after the compensation is over.
