The Maluku Archipelago, consisting of about 1,000 islands. Located between Sulawesi and Papua. Almost surrounds the Banda Sea. The archipelago is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the north, the Maluku Sea to the west, and the Timor Sea to the south, with an area of 74,505 square kilometers. Known as the Spice Islands by Indians, Chinese and Arab traders. The archipelago is surrounded by coral reefs and the deep sea. There are large mountainous islands and small cloister islands, of which Hamahera is the largest with an area of about 17,780 square kilometers; followed by Celan Island, with about 17,148 square kilometers; and Blue Island, about 9,505 square kilometers. Ternat Island has an active volcano at an altitude of 1651 meters. Ambon Island, near Seran Island, is prone to earthquakes, but there are no active volcanoes. There are many smaller uninhabited islands. The mountainous island is covered with evergreen forests such as pine, rhododendron, casuarina and eucalyptus, and the coast is covered with mangroves and freshwater swamp forests. The highest peak, Mount Sibila, is 2111 meters above sea level, on the island of Bachan. The equator crosses the archipelago, the climate is divided into dry and rainy seasons, the forest cover rate is 76%, and there is nickel ore. Rice, corn, coconut and west grain are grown, and timber, cardamom, fish and shrimp and pearls are exported. Famous for its abundant production of cloves, cardamom and pepper, the production and trade of spices flourished in the 16th century, Islam was the main religion, and there were many Christians. Population 2,055,000. Ternat Island is the seat of the administrative capital.

Hamachira Island is the largest island in Maluku Province. It has an area of 17,780 square kilometers. The population is 162,728.

Ternat Island covers an area of 76 square kilometers and the highest volcano is 1715 meters above sea level. The population is 185655 people.

The Ternat Island Group covers an area of 249.75 km² and has a population of 16,058.

Morty Island covers an area of 24.6 square kilometers; volcanic island, with a maximum altitude of 950 meters.

Mayau Island covers an area of 78.4 km². The highest volcano is 1357 meters above sea level and has a small lake to the northeast.

Tiffore Island covers an area of 22.1 km².

Titore Island covers an area of 116 square kilometers, is 1,730 meters above sea level, and has a population of 89,506.

Mangole Island, with an area of 1228.5 km². It is at an altitude of 1054 meters above sea level and has a population of 45,800.

The island of Tagliab covers an area of 2,913.2 square kilometers and has a maximum point of 1157 meters.

The island of Xanana covers an area of 558 square kilometers. The population is 20,000. The highest elevation is 695 meters above sea level.

The island of Celan covers an area of 17,148 square kilometers. The island is mountainous, with the highest point at 3,019 meters above sea level. From time to time there are earthquakes, the population; 434113.

Saparua Island, with an area of 144 square kilometers. The highest point is 331 meters above sea level. Population 32312, producing West Valley rice, palm, nutmeg, cloves.

Boano Island covers an area of 120 square kilometers. The highest point is 606 meters above sea level. The population is 14,900.

Haruku Island covers an area of 289 square kilometers. It has a population of 180,000. Produces spices, nutmeg, cloves, curries, cumin, ginger.

Ambon Island covers an area of 775 square kilometers. The hills are undulating, consisting of two hills, the highest of which is Mount Sahadu at an altitude of 1004 meters, and the eastern bank is the town of Ambon, which is the capital of Maluku Province, an important military port and a commercial port. The population is 750927 people.

The island covers an area of 66 square kilometers, and its highest point is 340 meters above sea level.

The total area of the Aru Islands is 8,563 square kilometers. The main island of Thanabissa has a population of 80,140.

Yandner Island covers an area of 2,981 square kilometers.

Serraru Island covers an area of 775 square kilometers.

The Kayi Islands have a total land area of 1,438 square kilometers. The island of Grande Cai is mountainous, about 900 meters above sea level. The population is 158328.

Big Cai Island covers an area of 550 square kilometers, and the highest point on the island is 900 meters above sea level.

Little Cay Island covers an area of 399 square kilometers.

The Baba Islands consist of 570 square kilometres and several small islands on Baba Islands, with a total area of 813 square kilometres. Population 8640 (2010). The highest point is on Baba Island, about 750 meters above sea level,

The island of Morrotai covers an area of 1,800 square kilometers. The island is mountainous and tree-lined, with swamps to the southwest. Population 54,876 (2007).

The Orbi Islands have an area of 2,542 square kilometers. The population is 8000.
