On April 27, in the live broadcast of the "new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo China Premiere", many Porsche owners changed their dyy ID to "Porsche return my electric steering column", "Porsche fraudulent manual steering wheel", "Porsche deception formula to the disk", etc., and constantly gave official gifts and burst lights to achieve the effect of screen brushing.
Sure enough, this method did work, and the official live broadcast had to be stopped after only half an hour.
So, what's going on here?
Due to the shortage of chip supply, Porsche has changed many models other than the Taycan from electric adjustment steering column to manual adjustment steering column in the Chinese market, including some batches of Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, 911 and Taycan models, involving about 30,000 vehicles in the domestic market.
What is an electric steering column? It can be understood as the electric adjustment of the steering wheel, which mostly appears on first-class models. In addition to the change of electric adjustment to manual adjustment, in addition to the change of its own function, the steering wheel memory and the steering wheel automatic shift function will also be affected.
This is not shown on the official website page, nor is it informed to domestic consumers in advance. Most consumers discover this change during or after they buy a car. In July 2021, Porsche China began communicating with relevant customers in batches. At that time, the method given was that the vehicle temporarily used a manual steering column, and once the parts procurement was completed, the electric steering column could be installed, and the installation was free.
By March 2022, however, this approach had been shelved. Officials said they would cancel the restoration and replacement plan of the steering column with electric adjustment function of some vehicles, and instead provide 2300 yuan of offspring vouchers as compensation.
This series of changes has obviously not been recognized by Porsche customers.
First of all, the cost of installing an electronic steering column alone in the 4S store is 30,000 yuan, and the 2300 yuan voucher is obviously far from it. Since the two parties have agreed on the reloading, even if the compensation is compensated, the amount should be equal.
Also by some 4S stores said that it is the official notice of Porsche that it will no longer be reloaded for free, and the compensation plan given to the 3500 yuan + 2300 yuan voucher is also officially notified, and the 4S store can no longer provide other measures for the owner.
Based on various information, the owner reflects the same situation, and the amount of compensation for the dealer is different.
Secondly, Porsche's dual treatment of Chinese and foreign standards is not reasonable. The Panamera vehicle selection page of Porsche's official website in the United States clearly indicates that some models are equipped with electric steering columns as standard, and models that are not equipped with standard can also be optional. So, maybe, probably, maybe Porsche only reduced the number of models sold in the Chinese market.
Finally, does the Porsche owner care about the 2300 yuan voucher? Probably more concerned is the disappointment of the agreement being destroyed after waiting, after trusting.
After 3 days of live broadcasting, Porsche officials finally issued a statement on the matter.
The statement explained the reasons for the reduction, mentioned Porsche's many helplessnesses, and emphasized that Porsche had set up a task force to find a solution... To sum up, I didn't say anything about the point...
In this regard, netizens of course do not buy it, some people lamented that "fortunately can not afford to buy Porsche, otherwise it is more annoying." Well, I don't even want to daydream.
At a time when the global auto market is uncertain, these methods such as reduced allocation delivery, first delivery and then reloading are not new, even if Porsche blatantly tells the owner that we must reduce the allocation, the owner will understand this, and things will not develop into such an embarrassing situation as it is today.
As for how this rights protection incident will end, we will continue to track it down. Of course, it is difficult to guarantee that Porsche will become a second Tesla, labeled "the more you scold, the more you buy", and a little negative will not affect its sales in the end market at all.
