Recently, Tesla has achieved surprising results in Europe again, with the Tesla Model 3 becoming the number one car sold in Europe in March, and the Model Y also taking third place.
According to JATO Dynamics, the Model3 topped the sales charts last month with 23,013 registrations, which was a slight 3% decrease from the same period in 2021 but 50% higher than March 2020, with the Peugeot 208 in second place, which achieved 21,026 registrations, and the Model Y followed closely behind with 18,968 registrations, becoming third.
If you look at pure electric vehicles (BEVs), the Model 3 and Model Y are undoubtedly the most popular choices in Europe, with a total of 41,981 registered by the two of them, and their closest competitors are Fiat 500 (6,579 units), Kia Niro (5,217 units) and Volkswagen ID.4 (5,009 units).
These outstanding performances also show an even greater shift in European customer perceptions of low-emission vehicles, with a total of 244,801 plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicles (PHEV and BEV) registered in the European region last month, compared with just 202,113 once popular diesel-powered vehicles.
According to JATO, this figure means a 10% increase in sales of plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicles (PHEV and BEV), while sales of diesel vehicles have fallen by 39%, and the trend towards low-emission vehicles is in Switzerland (28% for electric vehicles and 14% for diesel), the UK (23% vs. 10%), France (21% vs. 16%) and Belgium (24% vs. 19%), with Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark all with a gradual trend of expansion.
