On April 26, WEILAI Auto officially announced that the 200,000th mass production vehicle was officially rolled off the production line at the Jianghuai NIO Hefei Advanced Manufacturing Base, announcing that NIO will open the next new target of 100,000 units.
It is understood that in May 2018, Niolai's first mass production car rolled off the production line, until April 2021, IT took three years for Weilai to increase the number of mass production vehicles to 100,000 units, while the second 100,000 units took only 1 year. According to the current mass production rate, the third 100,000 units will take less time, and Niolai's car sales will continue to grow at a high speed.
Official data shows that in March 2022, NIO delivered 9,985 new cars, an increase of 37.6% year-on-year. In the first quarter of 2022, NIO delivered a total of 25,768 new cars, an increase of 28.5% year-on-year, and maintained positive growth for 8 consecutive quarters. In addition, NIO's electric flagship sedan ET7 has also started delivery, and 163 units have been delivered as of the end of March.
As one of the three major new car-making forces, Weilai's single-month sales are not particularly eye-catching, and the data of the first 3 months of this year has even fallen out of the top three, and the sales growth of ideal and Xiaopeng is really a bit slow compared with the ideal and Xiaopeng. Last year, the monthly sales of Ideal and Xiaopeng exceeded 10,000 units, and continued to maintain a growth trend. Although Weilai also has sales of more than 10,000 in several months, but the fluctuations are relatively large, there are only 6131 units in February this year, and the gap with the other two is indeed a bit large.
However, WEILAI will also usher in a new growth point, and it is expected to release 2022 ES8, ES6 and EC6 in late May, equipped with the latest smart cockpit hardware, which will be more competitive than the previous generation. In addition, the new large five-seat SUV ES7 based on the NT2 platform may also be released year-on-year. With the help of this series of new cars, Weilai automobile sales may usher in a sharp rise, perhaps catching up with or even surpassing other new car-making brands.
At present, BYD has firmly occupied the position of the boss in the domestic new energy vehicle market, with a single monthly sales of more than 100,000 units. The second place Tesla monthly sales are also about 50,000 to 60,000 units. Several major new car-making forces need to make greater efforts to catch up with them. Recently, affected by factors such as the rise in the price of raw materials and the decline in new energy subsidies, all new energy vehicles on the market are rising in price, and this change has a greater impact on the new forces of car manufacturing, which will lead to a decrease in the market competitiveness of automobiles.
