The biggest news this week is the release of the next generation BMW 7 Series, as BMW's flagship sedan, the unveiling of the new car really shocked everyone, and even the new car was directly called the Little Rolls-Royce once unveiled, the front face, despite the quirky split headlights, it is the most important 7 Series ever, it is also the first model of its kind to be equipped with all-electric.
The BMW 7 Series is available in Japan in three models, including the 740i Excellence, 740i M Sport and i7 xDrive60 Excellence. As the starter, all three will come with all the features, including a 31.3-inch 8K panoramic display in the rear passenger area. The large screen for entertainment works with the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which has a 1965W power output, 40 speakers, and 32 channels.
In terms of power, as a 740i model, the fuel-engine-powered 7 Series in Japan is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine and a 48-volt mild hybrid assist system with a total output of 375 hp and a maximum torque of 519 Nm, which can be briefly increased to 540 Nm when needed.
Meanwhile, the electric i7 is equipped with two electric motors with a total power of 536 hp and a maximum torque of 744 Nm, and according to an estimated EPA rating, the 101.70 kWh battery pack should be able to run for about 483 km after a single full charge.
As mentioned earlier, the 2023 BMW 7 Series premiere is limited in Japan, with 50 740i Excellence, 50 740i M Sport, and 50 i7 xDrive60 Excellence. BMW Japan said the first deliveries will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
