Panoramic exhibition

The marine exhibition area was newly installed and set sail

The Marine Exhibition Area is a newly created permanent exhibition area for nature in 2021. It is divided into four parts: Blue Planet, Colorful Life, Treasure House in Water, and Guardian of Azure, which are divided into four parts: marine geography, marine life, marine development, marine protection and other aspects of marine natural knowledge, supplemented by marine humanities.

About 100 kinds of precious marine life specimens such as Arctic wolves, emperor penguins, tortoiseshells, tortoiseshells, corals, Antarctic krill, etc., as well as seawater, Antarctic stones, flags of China's 12th Arctic Scientific Expedition, and ship models such as "Xuelong 2" collected from the four oceans of the world and china's four major seas, are displayed in the exhibition area.

500 Years of World Navigation: A Special Exhibition of Nautical Artifacts from the 15th-19th Centuries

"500 Years of World Navigation: Special Exhibition of Maritime Relics from the 15th to 19th Centuries" shows the process of world navigation with cultural relics collected by China and interprets the world navigation story from a Chinese perspective.

The exhibition uses more than 300 pieces/sets of world navigational cultural relics involving more than 20 countries on five continents, showing the world connected by navigation from all directions and multiple angles in terms of science and technology, history, war, trade and art, and telling the five-hundred-year maritime history of navigation, trade and war.

Return of the sail: "Taixing" shipwreck out of the water cultural relics special exhibition

In January 1822, the "Taixing" departed from the port of Xiamen, but unfortunately sank in Indonesia. In May 1999, it was salvaged out of the water, with more than 350,000 pieces of porcelain, which is the largest Chinese wooden sailing ship found in marine archaeology and the shipwreck with the most complete cultural relics salvaged.

In 2021, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the sinking of the "Taixing", the China Maritime Museum, together with the Dehua Ceramics Museum and panlu Group, jointly held the "Long Sail Return: Special Exhibition of Cultural Relics from the Wreck of the 'Taixing'".

2021 marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China. China Maritime Museum and COSCO SHIPPING Group, together with a number of port and shipping institutions and cultural units, jointly held the "Red Memory Blue Navigation: Special Exhibition Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China", revealing the blood relationship between Red China and Blue Navigation from multiple angles.

The Sea Is There: An Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Maritime Relics

In order to tell the story of Chinese navigation and spread the sound of Chinese navigation, in 2020, the China Maritime Museum and 25 museums in 10 provinces and cities along the coast of China jointly launched the "The Sea Is There: Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Maritime Relics".

The exhibition is divided into six units: "Connecting the Ocean", "Exotic Treasures", "Glimpses of Maritime History", "Tales of Maritime Trade", "Boat of Faith" and "East-West Mutual Learning", through more than 160 pieces/sets of fine maritime cultural relics, displaying the history, science and technology, art and culture of ancient Chinese navigation.

Jinghai Shenji: Exhibition of Chinese Nautical Firearms Cultural Relics

In 2020, the China Maritime Museum held an original cultural relics exhibition "Jinghai Shenji : China Maritime Firearms Cultural Relics Exhibition". This exhibition is the first large-scale cultural relics exhibition in China with the theme of Chinese nautical firearms.

The exhibition gathers more than 130 pieces/sets of exhibits, through the five sections of "Firearm Traceability", "Prestige World", "Convergence of China and Foreign Countries", "Tortuous Development" and "Towards Rejuvenation", to tell the historical features of China's nautical firearms development over thousands of years, and to interpret the little-known nautical stories and scientific and technological manufacturing levels behind each nautical firearm.

Yangtze River Delta Maritime Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition

In 2019, the "Yangtze River Delta Maritime Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition", led by the China Maritime Museum and participated in by 25 cultural and expo institutions in the Yangtze River Delta, landed at the China Maritime Museum.

The exhibition brings together more than 200 exhibits, covering more than 50 items of maritime intangible cultural heritage, including world-class intangible cultural heritage such as longquan celadon traditional firing techniques, national intangible cultural heritage such as wanluopan making techniques, and provincial intangible cultural heritage such as ancient ship model making techniques.
