Chery New Energy more than doubled from the previous month, surpassing Geely Automobile to rank fourth in the list. GAC Aean sold 20,317 vehicles in March, up 138% month-on-month, rising from seventh in February to fifth in March. Changan New Energy once again made the list to rank sixth.
In March, BYD's sales reached 104,338 units, and its monthly sales exceeded 100,000 units for the first time, an increase of 160.09% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 19.3%, ranking first in sales. Sales of DM models reached 50,674 units and EV models reached 53,664 units.
Sales of the family's flagship Model Han reached 12,359 units, of which the Han DM increased by 524.9% month-on-month to a record high. Just yesterday, the BYD Han family launched new products - Han EV (Genesis Edition and Qianshan Cui Insurance Edition), DM-i and DM-p4 models. The launch of the new model has given consumers new choices, which will help BYD's sales reach a new high.
Since the addition of the DM-i model, the sales volume of the Tang series has steadily increased, reaching 9,625 units in March. The new Tang EV is about to be released, and it is only a matter of time before the sales of the Tang series exceed 10,000 units in the future, coupled with the climbing production capacity of DM-i, the sales volume of the Tang series should not be bad.
In March, the sales volume of the Song series reached 26,729 units, of which the Song PLUS DM-i supported half of the BYD SUV family, an increase of 2991.3% year-on-year. Qin PLUS DM-i supported half of the BYD sedan family, with sales reaching 24,797 units in March, an increase of 468.4% year-on-year, and cumulative sales of 580,000 units.
The Yuan family sold 12,881 units in March with its first e-platform 3.0 model, the YuanPLUS. BYD Dolphin's sales in March were equally impressive, with sales of 10,501 units in March, up 22.6% month-on-month, and one model alone managed to break through 10,000.
Second-place Tesla sold 65,814 units in March, up 85% year-on-year. In the first quarter of this year, Tesla's cumulative sales exceeded 180,000 units, reaching a market performance of 182,174 vehicles. On March 22, Tesla's Berlin plant was put into operation, and on April 8, Tesla's Texas plant was put into operation. In the future, with the gradual release of production capacity in the two major factories, Tesla's sales will climb rapidly, and its sales this year are expected to hit 1.4 million vehicles.
SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 51,157 units in March, up 96.4% month-on-month. Affected by the general environment, its "God Car" Hongguang MINIEV has also joined the price increase tide, and the sales volume of hongguang MINIEV, which wins cheaply, will be more or less affected after the price increase.
Chery New Energy sold 21,817 vehicles in March, more than doubling month-on-month, surpassing Geely Automobile to rank fourth on the list. From January to March, 53,054 new energy vehicles were sold, up 212.6% year-on-year. Among them, the new energy passenger car, driven by chery small ant and QQ ice cream, sold 50,013 units in the first quarter, an increase of 255.4% year-on-year; the sales volume of new energy models of the Chery brand has reached 29%. Up to now, the cumulative sales of Chery Ants and QQ Ice Cream have exceeded 300,000 vehicles.
GAC Aeon sold 20,317 vehicles in March, up 138% month-on-month and up 189% year-on-year, rising from seventh in February to fifth in March. The sales exceeded 20,000 units for the first time, which is another important milestone for GAC Aean.
GAC Aeon said that the rapid breakthrough in its sales volume is, on the one hand, it has completed the expansion and upgrading of the factory's production capacity in February, and the scale of production capacity has doubled to ensure supply security; on the other hand, it has benefited from E-An's innovative play in technology, products, channels, marketing and other aspects, especially the comprehensive innovation and change brought about by mixed reform.
Changan New Energy sold 15,624 units in March, up 54.4% month-on-month, and once again ranked sixth on the list. Changan New Energy's high-hope C385 real vehicle has been unveiled at the China Electric Vehicle 100 People's Congress and is expected to be listed in the second quarter. The Avita 011, which was built in cooperation with Ningde Times and Huawei, was delivered in the fourth quarter. With the launch of these two cars, Changan New Energy will break the current situation of relying only on small cars such as the Ben E-Star.
Great Wall New Energy Vehicles sold 15,057 units in March, up 140.5% month-on-month, rising from 10th in February to eighth in March. Among them, the Euler brand sold 14264 vehicles in March, of which the Euler good cat sold 6374 vehicles per month, an increase of 56.8% month-on-month, and the cumulative sales of 19460 vehicles from January to March, with a single model sales increased by 240% year-on-year. Since March, the 2022 Euler Good Cat has begun to accept reservations, and the price range is 127,900-157,900 yuan. Weipai Mocha DHT-PHEV sold more than 500 units, latte DHT sold 2,576 units.
Geely New Energy sold 15,557 units in March, up 332% year-on-year and down 0.8% month-on-month, falling from fourth in February to ninth in March. Among them, 11,900 pure electric models were sold, and 2,266 plug-in models were sold. By brand, Extreme Krypton automobiles sold 1795 vehicles, Ruilan automobiles sold 2008 vehicles, and geometric cars sold 10,152 vehicles, exceeding 10,000 vehicles for the first time. Geometry brands that have been dormant for a while may release a new small pure electric SUV in mid-May, named Geometry E, and the launch of the new car will further enrich the product matrix of geometric cars and help increase sales.
SAIC Motor Passenger Car sold 10,880 units in March, up 18.5% month-on-month, falling into the top 10 and ranking 12th on the list. With its "blockbuster" model Clavi CLEAR, SAIC Motor's passenger cars have achieved monthly sales of 10,000 units. Recently, the CLEVER Yuanqi version of Clavi was officially listed, with an official guidance price of 59,999 yuan, and the listing of the new car will help SAIC passenger car sales to achieve better results.
The reason for the unsatisfactory sales of Feifan Automobile, which has undergone two name changes and high hopes, may be that the product line is thin, and the two models currently on sale, marvel R and ER6, are launched under the technical system of SAIC Passenger Cars and Roewe, while the performance of Roewe in the past in the high-end product line has been unsatisfactory, and the market recognition is insufficient. This led to the lack of product strength and brand support in the early stage of Feifan Automobile, and it was difficult to form a differentiated advantage, so the sales performance did not meet expectations.
In addition, due to the decline of new energy subsidies and the rise in the cost of parts, Feifan Automobile has also joined the price increase tide, rising by 3,000 yuan to 10,000 yuan, and the increase in the cost of car purchase by users may make Feifan Automobile, which has poor sales, face more sales pressure. However, with the launch of the Feifan R7 (launched and delivered in the second half of this year), the situation of Feifan Automobile is expected to improve.

Affected by the soaring prices of raw materials, in March, new energy vehicle companies ushered in the most ferocious wave of price increases, but from the perspective of sales in March, the impact of the current price increase of new energy vehicles is not obvious for the time being. The Association believes that the sales model of new energy vehicles is order sales, and at present, there are more orders before the price increase in the hands of various car companies, resulting in the basic digestion of pre-orders in March and April, so the sales impact is not large.
