What is the impact of the decline in subsidies for the purchase of new energy vehicles on the selection of vehicles in the bus passenger transport industry?

This year, the subsidy for the purchase of new energy vehicles will be reduced by 30% on the basis of 2021, and will be fully withdrawn by the end of the year. This has a huge impact on bus manufacturing enterprises and bus operators. Specific to the transportation terminal car selection, what kind of impact will it have?

From the perspective of the whole life cycle, electric vehicles already have certain economic advantages compared with traditional diesel vehicles and natural gas vehicles. With the performance of new energy buses, such as the improvement of mileage, new energy vehicles are better meeting the needs of operating enterprises. After the decline of purchase subsidies and even the withdrawal, car companies will no longer focus on the indicators of subsidies when building cars, but will pay more attention to the demands of the user market and guide vehicle technology research and development to be more in line with the needs of the industry.

Liu Yan, Executive Deputy Secretary General of Shandong Road Transport Association:

Shandong is a major province for the promotion and application of public transport vehicles, and the number of vehicles used in intercity buses and urban buses is huge. The decline in the purchase subsidy of new energy buses has a greater impact on the purchase cost of operating enterprises, especially private bus passenger transport enterprises. This may encourage more operating companies to change their business styles, such as to models such as cost regulation.

With the decline of new energy bus purchase subsidies, for the procurement cost pressure that may be faced in the future, we will pay more attention to new materials, new processes, new technologies and new products in the selection of car vehicles, such as lightweight and other indicators that can help improve operational efficiency, and measure the cost performance of vehicles from the whole life cycle. We may start experimenting with some buses that apply new materials and processes on a small scale.

How to view the industry phenomenon of "car companies like it, car companies do not produce it"?

Wang Jieye, Deputy General Manager of Qingdao City Transport Holdings Transportation Group Warm Bus Co., Ltd.:

There are two main reasons for this phenomenon: one is that the diversification of market demand promotes the rapid replacement of models; the other is that under the influence of multiple factors such as the demand for bus markets becoming smaller and raw materials rising, the production costs of some models increase and profits decrease, resulting in production stoppage. With the opening of the subway in Qingdao, Shandong Province, the demand for connecting and micro-circulation bus travel continues to grow, and Qingdao Warm Bus is continuing to optimize bus routes and operation plans, and more small buses are chosen.

Wang Yufeng, general manager of Wuxi Hongyu Auto Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd.:

Nowadays, the transportation market attaches more and more importance to the personalization, safety and environmental protection of buses. In recent years, the mainland bus industry has developed rapidly, and the technology and products have also been rapidly upgraded and optimized. As a bus parts manufacturing enterprise, Wuxi Hongyu will continue to focus on related technology research and development and product upgrading, helping bus companies produce more products that meet the needs of the industry and users.

Gu Daijun, Chairman of Aipu Vehicle Co., Ltd.:

There are relatively few foreign bus models, and there are more than 10 classic models, which may not change for more than 10 years or even 20 years. Domestic bus models are quite rich, and the update and upgrading are also very fast, which has advantages and disadvantages. It is understood that some bus companies and bus manufacturing companies cooperate to launch specific models and use them for a long time, the effect is very good, but the agreed process is very long and complicated.
