C-IASI is a research work jointly carried out by the China Academy of Automotive Engineering and the China Insurance Research Institute under the guidance of the China Insurance Industry Association, and has been recognized by the industry and consumers for its scientificity, objectivity, authority and rigor. Being able to become a C-IASI evaluation "honor student" fully reflects the high level of safety of Model Y.
Not only that, Model Y has achieved good results in many authoritative automotive safety evaluation agencies around the world, and its strong safety performance has been recognized by users in various countries, setting a safety benchmark for the industry.
Active and passive safety to achieve "full excellence"
In the interior member safety index evaluation, Model Y achieved the highest G (excellent) rating in all four categories: 25% bias collision, side impact, roof strength, and seat/headrest, thanks to the model Y's impenetrable passive safety.
The rigidity and structure of the body is an important criterion for measuring passive safety. The Model Y body adopts steel and aluminum hybrid body frame, H-shaped collision-proof structure, and improves the body strength with a variety of advanced connection processes such as integrated die-casting technology, laser welding, resistance welding, riveting, gluing and so on from Tesla Gigafactory, which can effectively reduce the risk of vehicle deformation in vehicle collision accidents. At the same time, the Model Y can withstand more than 90,000 newtons of roof pressure, nearly 6 times the weight of the body, equivalent to 2 African elephants, and the strong pressure resistance protects the owner's travel safety.
25% bias collision is a project that makes many car companies "headache", but Tesla calmly copes with the reinforcement design of anti-collision parts such as A-pillar and B-pillar, effectively reducing the deformation of the door frame during the bias collision, which also allows Model Y to achieve excellent results in bias collision and side collision.
The Vehicle Auxiliary Safety Index measures the active safety performance of a vehicle. Tesla's ultra-high safety in terms of active safety is mainly reflected in Autopilot automatic assisted driving. In the pedestrian safety index project, Model Y has less damage to the legs, head and other parts of the model, and can minimize the damage to pedestrians when encountering collisions, and obtained a G (excellent) score in the evaluation.
Safety is internationally recognized and praised by car owners
The safety of Tesla vehicles has not only been certified by C-IASI, but also created excellent results in the tests of major authoritative evaluation agencies in various countries around the world.
For example, in the latest safety test results released by the American Highway Safety Insurance Association (IIHS), Model Y achieved the highest safety rating Top Safety Pick+. The test results showed that the Model Y achieved the highest rating in six tests: driver side front small offset collision, co-pilot side front small offset collision, overlapping front collision, lateral collision, roof strength and head protection, and seat. Previously, Model Y also passed crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and achieved a five-star safety rating.
