According to overseas media reports, Hertz Car Rental has signed a procurement contract with Polestar Automobile and will order 65,000 Polestar 2 electric vehicles in the next 5 years.
Hertz has previously said it wants 20 percent of its operating vehicles to be all-electric and has signed a car purchase contract with Tesla to buy 100,000 Teslas for $4.2 billion. It is expected that Polarstar 2 will be the first to supply the European market and land in the North American market by the end of this year.
For reference, Polestar plans to achieve its sales target of 290,000 units by 2025. The Polestar 2 is Polarstar's first all-electric model, released in February 2019, produced at its Taizhou plant in China and sold worldwide. The domestic market provides 300 kW dual motor long endurance, 170 kW single motor long endurance and 165 kW single motor standard endurance models.
