It is reported that PoleStar is Volvo's high-end electrification brand, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Sweden. At present, Polar Star has launched two models, Polar Star 1 and Pole Star 2, the former positioning the brand flagship coupe, priced at 1.45 million yuan; the latter, as the main sales model of the Pole Star brand, the product sequence on sale includes single motor standard endurance, single motor long endurance, double motor long endurance, priced at 252,800 yuan, 282,800 yuan and 338,000 yuan respectively. In addition, its 2020 debut version is priced at 418,000 yuan.
Recently, Times Finance found on a second-hand trading platform that including the first edition of Polestar 2, 2021 single motor, double motor and other information on the sale of many Polar star models, some models are even sold at a price of less than 40%.

On December 20, Times Finance consulted the Sales people of PoleStar Space in Beijing and Shanghai, and the sales staff of Shanghai Pole Star Space told Times Finance that Pole Star Automobile is now a directly operated store, and the official guidance price is the price currently sold in the store, and there is no discount on the current national unified price of the car price. "There is no discount on the price of the car, but on the optional kit, there will be some corresponding preferential policies according to the user's choice."
For the online seller said that the vehicle channel is in the manufacturer to take the car, and then go to the 4S store to sign a contract, pick up the car in the warehouse, the sales said that the current Polar Star is directly operated store sales, there is no traditional 4S store, there is no such situation as the manufacturer to take the car. "At present, the users who place orders on the official website are delivering new cars in the recent Polar Star space."
At the same time, the sales said that if they see the news of selling cars online, they need to make a distinction between whether there are second-hand cars or rental vehicles. "Some companies may buy dozens of cars from Polestar on a lease basis, and they may make a re-sale of the vehicle after a period of use, which is the so-called used car."
However, Beijing Polar Star Space Sales told Times Finance that there is currently no discount for the Pole Star 2 2021 model, but the price of the first edition of the 2020 model can be discounted by 6.3%. "The first model of Polar Star 2 now has two existing cars, the official guidance price is 460,000, and now you can give you a 6.3 discount, and the price can be negotiated after entering the store."
The same is a direct sales channel, which should be the most transparent price system, why are the two places different in terms of car purchase discounts? In this regard, Times Finance also interviewed Polar star automobile, but as of press time, there has been no response.
Last year, the domestic insurance volume was less than 400 units?
It is worth noting that behind the low-priced "sale" of Polestar 2 on the second-hand trading platform, the overall market sales of the Polar Star brand are a mystery.
On December 20, Times Finance consulted official channels and third-party auto data networks, and could not find the sales data of Polar Star Automobile. However, according to media reports, the global sales of Polestar in 2020 is only 10,000 vehicles; according to the domestic motor vehicle insurance data, the number of Polestar 1 in 2020 is only 24, while the number of Polestar 2 is 342.
For the aforementioned sales data of Polar Star, Times Finance also interviewed Polar Star, but as of press time, there has been no response.
At present, Polestar is seeking to list on the NASDAQ. In September, Polestar announced plans to merge with Gores Guggenheim, a U.S.-based special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), with a combined valuation of about $20 billion, a deal expected to close in the first half of next year.
At the same time, shortly after the announcement of the listing news, PoleStar Automobile said that it would take Porsche as its main competitor in the future. According to auto motorsport, motor1 and other overseas well-known auto media reports, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingrat has said that the future polar star models will directly compete with Porsche, in the next 4 years, Polestar will successively launch Polestar 3, Polar Star 4, PoleStar 5 three models, respectively, benchmark Porsche's Cayenne (Cayenne), Macan and Panamera (Paramera).
Specifically, polestar 3 is a luxury SUV based on the Volvo SPA 2 platform; Polestar 4 is a high-end sports SUV based on the PMA platform jointly developed by Geely and Volvo; and Polestar 5 is a luxury sports 4-door GT sedan based on SPA 2. It is worth mentioning that all three models have a WLTP service endurance of 600+km.
Polestar also said that with the help of the three new cars, Polestar's global sales will increase from 29,000 units this year to 290,000 units in 2025. However, according to official information, Polar star 3 is expected to start mass production as soon as 2022.
Judging from the current market performance of Polar Star Automobile, whether the brand can be "hard" Porsche as desired may only prove itself after the new Polar Star car enters the market. But how to boost the performance of the Chinese market at present will become a top priority for the brand.
