On March 27, Tan Xuguang gave a speech after visiting Intelligent Technology and Qingzhi Automobile Technology, and the above quotations are from this speech.
The first half of the speech is four experiences of new business development, including: building a new team and creating new dreams; establishing a new ecology, we must boldly try; establishing a new mechanism to activate innovation; establishing a new order and gathering large resources.
In the second half of the speech, Tan Xuguang put forward four requirements for the management team.

The speech is basically positive energy except for a few bold sentences, but a few days later, on April 1, Weichai Power's 2021 annual results conference, Tan Xuguang once again made a surprising statement, this time full of controversy.
He said: "In recent years, the new energy industry is more lively, a rush, and then disorderly competition, new energy vehicles, especially passenger cars, there will be a catastrophic overcapacity, through the expansion of wealth in the capital market, resulting in the capital market for new energy disorderly capital expansion." ”
This remark is considered by many people to be the sour grape psychology that did not catch up with the new energy train.
Sinotruk's new energy route is currently mainly based on hydrogen energy. In 2018, Weichai Power, through its wholly owned subsidiary Weichai Power (Hong Kong), subscribed for a 19.9% stake in Ballard Power System in Canada for US$164 million, becoming Badera's largest shareholder. It is relatively backward in the research and development and layout of the pure electric technology route.
In 2021, Sinotruk proposed that the new energy power system should fully grasp the key core technologies such as fuel cell systems, drive motors and controllers, and electric drive bridges, and take the lead in establishing a global competitive advantage in the field of commercial vehicles.
For automatic driving, Tan Xuguang proposed to quickly launch the autonomous driving mining card for smart mine applications, continue to optimize and improve the port automatic driving collection card, and ensure that the demonstration operation of key technologies for automatic driving under specific closed scenarios will be realized in 2023; and by 2025, intelligent networking and hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicles will lead the global market.
Sinotruk has also laid out passenger cars on the road of transformation. Weichai Power previously obtained the passenger car production qualification by way of acquisition, launched the Weichai Yingzhi brand, and later changed its name to Sinotruk VGV, and still focused on the passenger car business of traditional fuel vehicles.
In the field of commercial vehicles, Sinotruk is still in the first camp.
In 2021, Sinotruk's heavy-duty truck sales were 286,000 units, down 2.5% year-on-year, but the overall heavy-duty truck market ranked second, replacing Dongfeng's position, an increase of one place over 2022. The annual market share of heavy-duty trucks was 20.5% (caliber of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), an increase of nearly 3 percentage points year-on-year.
At the same time, Sinotruk's heavy-duty vehicle exports account for more than 50% of the mainland's total exports, and its sales volume will exceed 50,000 units in 2021, maintaining the first place in the country for 17 consecutive years, and has become the single-brand enterprise with the largest export volume in the world.
