The whole series has been newly equipped with a new odyssey to seize the "highland" of MPV value

With the rise of self-driving tours and the adjustment of fertility policies, MPV models are driving into the spotlight.

According to the analysis released by the Passenger Car Market Information Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Passenger Car Association"), the domestic MPV market has gathered joint venture brands and independent brands such as "Virtue, Japan and South Korea".

At the same time, this market also presents an "inverted pyramid" pattern - the sales of low-end MPV shrink, and the head car companies and waist car companies "lift" upwards to meet the market.

As user needs change, MPV "veteran players" are constantly innovating themselves. In December 2021, Guangqi Honda Huanxin launched a new odyssey, which further evolves to passenger value and practical value on the basis of years of deep cultivation of household value.

Consumption upgrade in the MPV market

According to the data of the Association, in 2015, the market share of MPV in the Chinese car market was 10.9%, and the annual MPV sales exceeded 2 million vehicles; and by 2021, the market share of MPV in the Chinese car market was 5.4%, and the annual MPV sales exceeded 1 million.

While the total sales volume and market share declined, new development trends gradually appeared within the market segment - high-end MPV, new energy and hybrid MPV grew rapidly.

Referring to the data released by the Association in August 2021, at that time, there were 45 products on sale in the MPV market, and in the TOP20 ranking, the vast majority were high-end/large-scale MPV products, which accounted for 93.7% of the MPV market, with an average growth rate of 32.5%; while the remaining 25 products accounted for only 6.3%, with an average growth rate of -52%.

It can be seen that the MPV market is developing towards the pattern of "inverted pyramid", the growth rate of high-end models is obvious, and the low-end models are facing upgrade challenges. In addition, with the explosive growth of new energy vehicles in the past two years, the demand for MPV market has also gathered in the direction of new energy.

In the first 11 months of 2021, pure electric (BEV) MPVs sold 26,000 units, up 277.9% year-on-year, and hybrid (HEV) MPVs sold 87,000 units, up 13.4% year-on-year, according to the Association. The data shows that in the first 11 months of 2021, new energy and hybrid MPV achieved sales growth, and the market penetration of both also increased.

It is true that behind the emergence of new trends in the consumer market is the change in consumer demand. With the increase in the number of households in China and the rise of the trend of self-driving travel, MPVs with larger spaces have attracted the attention of some consumers. The head car companies and waist car companies have also catered to market demand in the past two years and further pushed up their products.

In the MPV market where many car companies "nugget", Odyssey can be called a "veteran player". As one of the first joint venture MPV to enter the Chinese market, Odyssey has undergone five generations of evolution in China and gained the trust of more than 650,000 users.

Deeply rooted in the market segment for many years, Odyssey proves the value of the product with the retention rate. In the "Rosewood Award • China Automobile Retention Rate List" released by J.D.Power and 58 Automobile, Odyssey ranked in the top three of the list from 2019 to 2021 and was recognized by professional institutions.

Perceiving the growing demand for new energy MPV from Chinese users, GAC Honda launched the oil-electric hybrid MPV in 2019 - Odyssey Rui Hybrid. Today, Odyssey has entered the "all-hybrid era", not only achieving 100% hybrid sales, but also accumulating more than 100,000 hybrid owners.

Self-innovation continues to evolve

In December 2021, the new Odyssey was launched and received more than 10,000 orders in just over a month, of which the medium and high-end versions accounted for more than 90%. On the eve of the Spring Festival in the Year of the Tiger, GUANGC Honda delivered more than 5,000 new Odyssey vehicles to terminals.

Behind the hot sales of terminals is the new Odyssey's pursuit of continuous evolution and adherence to core values.

In terms of appearance, the new Odyssey has a domineering heavy grille, blackened sports wheels, while adding front and rear streamer turn signals, new all-LED headlights and other visually pleasing designs.

Stepping into the car, the new Odyssey is equipped with a 10.1-inch DA intelligent central control screen in the center console position, and new functions such as the CTM rearview dynamic reminder system. Through the intelligent central control screen, the Honda CONNECT 3.0 intelligent guide interconnection system unfolds in front of the eyes with intelligent voice as the interactive interface. The system implements functions such as precise navigation, voice assistant, OTA online upgrade and so on.

On the one hand, the appearance and technology are advanced, and on the other hand, the new Odyssey is also committed to providing a comfortable and practical use experience.

In the rear space, the new Odyssey adds a second row of double-layer acoustic glass and rear door glass to create a quiet atmosphere in the car. In addition, equipment such as kick electric tailgates and plasma air purifiers also enable the new Odyssey to further optimize the driving experience.

As a home MPV, the new Odyssey still inherits the core values - to take care of the car needs of family members, to meet the car scene of family travel, and to take into account driving and safety.

Whether elderly or children, the new Odyssey's 126mm platform height will allow them to step up and down. The 740mm double cross-shaped extra-long rails allow the new Odyssey seats to move in all directions, and the magic seats in the third row can also create a fishing seat mode.

For the driver, the new Odyssey series comes standard with Honda's third-generation i-MMD hybrid system, which combines the two highlights of driving and fuel saving. The hybrid system can reasonably switch 3 driving modes, improve fuel consumption, and achieve fuel consumption as low as 5.88L per 100 kilometers.

In addition to the characteristics of low fuel consumption, the new Odyssey also uses a large-capacity lithium-ion battery, which takes into account the characteristics of high energy density and output density, and the motor drive has the characteristics of high torque, which can be compared with the high torque smooth acceleration of the 3.0L V6 engine, ensuring a high-performance driving experience.

Considering the various "small troubles" that may be encountered during driving, the new Odyssey is also equipped with Honda SENSING (Safety Super Sense) system, including more than ten active and passive safety configurations such as CMBS collision mitigation braking system and FCW forward collision warning system to escort driving.

Since its launch, the new Odyssey has proven itself with rising order volumes. For home users who are happy to live, the new Odyssey will set off a wave of hybrid fashion in the MPV market.
