Experts pointed out that in addition to the rise in raw material prices, the global shortage of chips and other reasons are also the reasons for the increase in the price of new energy vehicles.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology clearly put forward that the power battery of new energy vehicles, facing the pressure of lithium, cobalt and nickel and other ore resource guarantee and price increase, must improve the key resource guarantee capacity such as lithium, cobalt and nickel.

Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Association of Passenger Vehicles, also said that the current constraint on the development of new energy vehicles is the guarantee of resources such as cobalt, so there is an idea of developing lithium iron phosphate, and the development of new energy passenger vehicles in 2021 mainly lies in the huge increase in lithium iron phosphate batteries. "Recently, the high energy density trend of new energy vehicles in Europe and the United States is obvious, and we must also accelerate the installation of high-energy density batteries, realize the full use of cobalt resources, turn cobalt ore inventory into vehicle cobalt stocks, and achieve effective allocation of cobalt ore resources through policy guidance, and improve the guarantee of nickel, cobalt and lithium resources."

Zeng Yuqun, chairman of CATL, also mentioned that the current supply and demand situation of lithium resources is grim, and the development of the industry is facing challenges. We should accelerate the exploration and development of domestic lithium resources, ensure the safety of the supply chain, and strengthen independent innovation and scientific and technological research, and improve the level of efficient utilization of resource recycling.
