On March 10, the BMW Group recently officially announced that it has reached a relevant agreement with alpina, a well-known German modification brand, and completed the acquisition of the latter. At this point, Alpina will become the fourth car brand under the BMW Group after BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce.
It is reported that after the acquisition agreement is reached, the Albina brand will continue to modify the business of BMW models. In fact, the two sides renewed their cooperation agreement as early as 2020, and the partnership will continue until 2025. Until then, Alpina will continue to develop and produce at its Buchlohe plant in Germany, where BMW will also support the Albina brand by renovating the plant.
According to the data, Alpina is a car production company based in Bavaria, Germany, founded in 1965, known worldwide for specializing in the modification of BMW cars, but before that, there was no affiliation between the company and BMW.
BMW and Alpina have been working together as early as the 1960s and 1970s, and the BMW car has greatly improved its performance due to the installation of engine components developed by Alpina, winning championships in many races and making Albina famous.
Alpina's modified BMW cars are known for their outstanding performance and individual configurations, including front and rear surrounds, aerodynamic kits, exhaust systems, powertrains, wheels, custom interiors and body trims.
The company can get the vehicle drawings and technical parameters before the release of each new BMW car, and according to the customer's customization needs, it began to build a BMW car with a brand personality, and the scope of modification involved almost all BMW products. Currently, Alpina is developing the latest B3 (based on the BMW 3 Series), XB7 (based on the BMW X7) and B8 Gran Coupe (based on the BMW 8 Series) products.
According to the data, in 2021, Albina delivered more than 2,000 BMW Albina cars worldwide. At present, there is no official purchase channel for Albina models in China, and after being acquired by BMW, Alpina is expected to enter the Chinese market through official channels.
