At the beginning of November last year, Honda unveiled a new model of the 2024 NX500 midsize expedition car, which will replace the current CB500X in the local market. For regional markets such as China and Japan, the NX400 is also available.

The new NX500 is an upgrade from the current CB500X, using the existing water-cooled four-stroke, inline-two-cylinder, DOHC four-valve-per-cylinder engine with a displacement of 471 cc, a slipper clutch as standard, a six-speed gearbox, an upgraded PGM-FI electronic fuel injection system's data package, and optimized ignition timing and air-fuel ratio, resulting in more powerful acceleration at low revs and more linear power delivery. The maximum power output is 35 kw of the European A2 driver's license (the CB500X sold in China has a maximum power output of 37 kw).

The body is equipped with a diamond-shaped frame with steel tubes, a new exterior styling with the design theme of "Daily Crossover", the addition of HSTC traction control system (CB500X/CB400X does not have this equipment), Showa suspension system, digital instrument cluster, LED lighting system, front 19 and rear 17-inch diameter wheels, etc.

In Honda's product line, NX is a product name with a certain history, which originally meant "new off-road" from the New X-Over, the first model was the 1988 NX125 (mainly for European and Japanese domestic markets) and the NX650 (mainly for European and American markets) launched in the late 80s, and the original prototype of the Paris-Dakar Rally factory race car Africa Twin Africa, whose model was the NXR750 - based on the NX, added R. NX's ability to adapt to both paved road and country trail applications for versatile, dual-use (on-road + off-road) is a key feature of NX.

In fact, whether it is the new NX500/NX400 or the previous CB500X/CB400X, on the basis of neutral choice, there may be shortcomings in the face of different road conditions, after all, neutral choice essentially means that whether it is road riding or off-road riding, you need to make your own compromises to achieve a basic balance. As part of this response, the company has released a series of OEM kits/accessories to the European market at the same time as the launch of the new car to increase the versatility of the NX500.

The NX500 Factory Retrofit Kit/Accessory for the European market includes four different options:

1. Adventure Pack (Figure 1 below), which includes a light-colored windshield, guard, spotlight, fuel tank scratch pad, etc.;

2. Comfort Pack (Figure 2 below), which includes a heated handlebar, a 3-liter fuel tank bag, etc.;

3. Travel Pack (Figure 3 below), which includes tail luggage bags, side boxes on both sides of the car, etc.;

4. Urban Pack (Figure 4 below), the components include a tripod, rear trunk, etc.
