Well-known game analyst Michael Pachter predicts that Sony PlayStation will go out of business in the next few years because today's Microsoft Xbox Game Pass is too powerful.
Michael Parcht believes that sony PlayStation will disappear completely in about a decade (i.e., 2032), and that the 28-year-old world-famous game brand will eventually cease to exist.
PlayStation is a home video game entertainment platform launched by Sony in 1994. In the years after its launch, PS not only successfully defeated Japan's Nintendo's N64 console and Sega's SS console, but also finally became a generation of hegemons in the game industry in the PlayStation 2 era.
Michael Paget believes that while the Sony PlayStation 5 remains a leader in console hardware sales, Microsoft already has an "undisputed lead" in Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.
Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft's monthly membership subscription service, and users can play all the games in the Xbox Game Pass library after paying a premium membership fee of $14.99 per month.
Taking the Hong Kong server as an example, the Xbox Game Pass game library has 383 Xbox console games and 402 PC games, including Microsoft's own Halo and Gears of War, as well as third-party AAA masterpieces such as ARK: Survival Evolution and Destiny 2.
Exclusive games can't save Sony
Exclusive game content is essential for console users. While Sony has top game studios like Santa Monica and Naughty Dog, offering some high-quality exclusive games each year (such as God of War and GT Racing 7), it's still far less than the number of games in Xbox Game Pass's library.
With Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard and Bethesda, it gave Xbox Game Pass a greater content advantage, and with it came more subscribers. With gold signs like The Elder Scrolls, Call of Duty, Warcraft, and Diablo, Microsoft has attracted more players.
