Russo-Ukrainian War Morning Post (March 8)
1) The third round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine has ended, and there has been no substantive progress in politics and military. The two sides agreed to hold the next round of negotiations. Ukrainian negotiators said the two sides had achieved some positive results on the humanitarian corridor.
2) Biden did not decide whether to impose an embargo on Russian crude oil, saying it was "actively discussing."
3) A draft statement suggests that EU leaders will agree at this week's summit to phase out the EU's dependence on imports of Russian gas, oil and coal.
4) The U.S. Congress is close to reaching an agreement on a bill that would provide billions of dollars in emergency aid to Ukraine and fund the U.S. government until Sept. 30, along with funding to respond to covid-19.
5) Russia warns that if the United States and the European Union ban oil imports from Russia, oil prices could soar to more than $300 per barrel.
6) Blinken: NATO is considering deploying more permanent troops in the Baltic states.
7) The United States will send an additional 500 troops and tankers to Europe.
8) The European Union officially launched the review of the application for membership of The Ukrainian Georgian Moldova. First, the European Commission will issue a formal opinion on the applications of the three countries, and then the 27 member states will decide whether to agree to grant ukraine, Georgia and Moldova candidatures for membership before the lengthy and complex negotiations can begin.
