Yu Yimei began to draw at the age of 4, published her first work in "Shonen Comics" at the age of 17, and began to learn to create her own story when others were still copying comics such as "Dragon Ball" and "Slam Dunk Master". In high school, Yu Yimei achieved "financial freedom" by virtue of the fees earned in various comic magazines. In 2001, the "Luzhou Evening News" was established, 22-year-old Yu Yimei carried two sacks of his own published works to participate in the interview, intuitive business ability display, gave the interviewer a deep impression, Yu Yimei was quickly left behind, during the newspaper, Yu Yimei painted illustrations, but also worked as a reporter.

From working as a book designer under the banyan tree in 2005 to setting up a personal studio in 2008, Yu Yimei designed book covers or bindings for dozens of writers during the golden age of the publishing industry. The writers of the younger generation include Han Han, Guo Jingming, Cai Jun, Feng Tang, An Yiru, etc., and the writers of the older generation include Jia Pingwa, Wang Shuo, Yan Lianke, Remnant Xue, Chi Li, etc.
When Yu Yimei received Feng Tang's "Beijing, Beijing" book design project, Feng Tang had already killed more than 10 drafts of the previous design plan. Yu Yimei found that most of the plans for being killed were problematic in the communication between designers and authors: writers are not good at expressing themselves in real life, and designers do not know how to communicate with writers. Yu Yimei said: "Because of my experience as a journalist, I know how to communicate with a stranger and help him find what he wants to express in his heart. ”
In the next more than a month, Yu Yimei launched a long "interview" with Feng Tang, by asking Feng Tang's understanding of the work, positioning himself, etc., Yu Yimei gradually figured out Feng Tang's aesthetic preferences, and in the first edition of the cover binding scheme that he designed subsequently, he was recognized by Feng Tang, and Feng Tang read the design draft and said: Finally there is a book that can be sent.

During her stay in Shanghai, Yu Yimei "stationed" in Shanghai Book City every weekend, a bottle of bread and a bottle of mineral water, staying all day. Yu Yimei flipped through every book in the book city and absorbed excellent art design nutrients. For the book art design, Yu Yimei has her own understanding: "The author will have an understanding of his own work, the market will also have a feedback on this work, I look for a suitable point in the middle, and then with my aesthetic, guide this point to a higher place as much as possible."
In order to improve her aesthetics, since 2010, Yu Yimei has gradually withdrawn from the publishing industry and begun the study life of "reading thousands of books and traveling thousands of miles". For more than a decade, Yu Yimei has traveled all over China, visiting museums and places of interest in various places, drawing nourishment and inspiration from traditional culture.
From the "Home of Beauty Weaving" website, to the Shanghai Book City, to the current museums and places of interest, Yu Yimei has always been on the road of learning and reserve. Yu Yimei did not limit herself to a certain field, as long as it was related to art, she wanted to try it.
After going to so many cities, Yu Yimei's favorite is still her hometown of Luzhou. Opening Yu Yimei's Weibo is like opening a map of Luzhou cuisine: sauerkraut noodles in Xiashuijinggou and bean blossom grilled fish in Baizitu... "Many of my friends say that I am a Luzhou image publicity officer, and seeing my sharing, many of them are curious about Luzhou and are ready to travel to Luzhou." Yu Yimei said that there are even friends in Shanghai and other places, because of her influence to settle in Luzhou.
"Luzhou's climate, food, environment, everything is too comfortable, I want to introduce my hometown to the whole country", the next step, Yu Yimei plans to design Luzhou dialect emojis, through social media, output Luzhou culture.
