The famous writer Jia Pingwa's latest long-note novel "The Record of Qinling" was recently published by the People's Literature Publishing House.
Jia Pingwa has been engaged in literary creation for nearly 50 years since he began publishing literary works in 1973, and "The Record of Qinling" is his 19th novel and the first of them to be named "Qinling".
"Decades have passed, and I have been writing about Qinling. Write about the glory and suffering of its history, write about the revitalization and sorrow of its reality, write about the victory of its landscapes, plants, trees, and birds and beasts, and write about its confucianism and Taoism and the spirit of the Red Revolution. First it was to focus on the Shangzhou in the Qinling Mountains, and then to zoom in to the entire Qinling Mountains. If I can sum up in one sentence, it is: Qinling and the me in Qinling. Jia Pingwa said that this time the writing returned to the Qinling Mountains, absorbed the traditional cultural genes contained in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" and "Liaozhai Zhiyi", and brought together the things, personnel and historical events in the Qinling Mountains, presenting readers with a history of the qinling mountains and rivers, grasses, trees, animals, villages, and characters that have accumulated in their hearts over the years.
Critics believe that this new work not only inherits the tradition of classical Chinese texts in the form of a note-writing novel, but also has its own style, telling a long and modern story, recording the life experience in the depths of the mountains, and expressing a literary attitude of respecting tradition and respecting nature.
