After a 44-hour conversion period, on February 25, Zhangjiakou Winter Paralympic Village officially opened. As the region with the most prizes for the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games, Zhangjiakou Winter Paralympic Village will welcome more than 700 athletes and team officials during the Winter Paralympic Games.
On February 23, Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Village was officially closed and entered a 44-hour winter Paralympic transition period. During the conversion period, Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Village will fully carry out barrier-free facilities and equipment inspections, replace the landscape of the Winter Paralympic Games, and increase Braille guidance signs to ensure the safe, orderly and smooth operation of the Winter Paralympic Village. The operation team made necessary adjustments to the functional spaces, streamlines, service facilities, etc. in the village, activated the orthosis, prosthesis and wheelchair maintenance center, operated the shuttle bus in the village, and transformed and upgraded the barrier-free facilities in the village.
During the transition period, the operation team also used field drills to simulate the arrival of athletes, accommodation, dining, rides, fitness and other scenarios, and tested the barrier-free environment of the venues in the Winter Paralympic Village.
In addition to the hardware conversion, the operation team of Zhangjiakou Winter Paralympic Village also carried out relevant support training to ensure that the venue staff was fully prepared to serve the athletes and officials accompanying the Winter Paralympic Games, understand the special needs of the Winter Paralympic Games and have a full work plan and resource preparation, laying a good foundation for the smooth and orderly development of the work.
It is understood that during the Winter Paralympic Games, Zhangjiakou Winter Paralympic Village will receive more than 700 athletes and team officials. At present, delegations from some countries and regions have stayed. The operation team said that Zhangjiakou Winter Paralympic Village will welcome the arrival of athletes and team officials from all over the world with warm and thoughtful service, and fulfill the promise of "two Winter Olympics, equally wonderful".
