After 44 hours of conversion work, the Winter Olympic Villages in Beijing and Yanqing were officially "transformed" into Winter Paralympic Villages. The image landscape of street lamps and road flags in the village was transformed, and "snow rongrong" replaced "ice pier" and officially took up his post. The transformation of barrier-free facilities is also an important task in this conversion.
As the first stop of delegations to the village, the reception hall of the Beijing Winter Paralympic Village has a special barrier-free passage, and it is widened to 95 centimeters, and people in wheelchairs can also pass smoothly. Gate inspection has also become manual inspection, which is very humane. After the security check is verified, you can stay in the athlete's apartment.
Barrier-free facilities in the rooms of the two Winter Paralympic Villages will make athletes feel the warmth of home. "The bed in the room is 10 cm lower than at the Winter Olympics, making it easy for wheelchair users to get out of bed." According to the relevant person in charge of Yanqing Winter Paralympic Village, the "ice pier" pillow that was previously popular with foreign athletes was also replaced by a "snow rongrong" pillow, as long as the zipper is unzipped, the pillow instantly becomes a one-meter-long blanket, which is also printed with the sports icons of the winter Paralympic Games.
The barrier-free transformation of the athletes' restaurant has also been completed, the restaurant provides a low-level dining table, the height of the dining table, the knee-tolerant space Table and chair items layout fully considers the needs of wheelchair users, such as the height of the table and chair in the original height of 5 to 6 cm, convenient for the wheelchair to push under the table; reserved wheelchair seats 46; due to the reduction of personnel relative to the Winter Olympics, while the need to widen the passage for wheelchairs to facilitate the passage of the wheelchair, the number of seats reduced from 346 to 212.
It is worth mentioning that two Winter Paralympic villages have opened wheelchair prosthetic orthosis repair centers.
Since the opening of the village on February 23, Yanqing Winter Paralympic Village has welcomed athletes and team officials from New Zealand, Austria and other countries. All 44 members of the Chinese team participating in the Paralympic alpine skiing event have now arrived at the Yanqing Winter Paralympic Village. Today and tomorrow, the village will usher in the peak, during the Winter Paralympic Games is expected to receive more than 500 athletes and team officials from 37 delegations.
At present, 48 delegations are eligible to participate in the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games. Starting from 5 March, they will compete in six major events: Paralympic Alpine Skiing, Paralympic Biathlon, Paralympic Cross-Country Skiing, Paralympic Snowboarding, Paralympic Ice Hockey and Wheelchair Curling, resulting in 78 gold medals.
