So, what do institutions think? According to Taiwan media reports, Morgan Stanley estimated in its latest report that after the Lunar New Year, the Chinese (mainland) market 5G chip cut orders by 5%. The weakness of the entire smartphone market is mainly due to four major factors:
First, the purchasing power of consumption has weakened. In the author's opinion, the continuation of the epidemic has indeed had a negative impact on the purchasing power of some consumers.
Second, the lack of new features in smart phones has reduced consumers' willingness to buy.
Third, the market share of some Chinese brand manufacturers overseas has declined.
Fourth, Apple's first affordable 5G iPhone will be listed in the second quarter, which may bring shipment pressure to Android phones.
Under these pressures, Chinese mobile phone sales fell by 10% year-on-year during the Lunar New Year holiday (January 30 to February 6). Sales were even worse than expected.
Previously, in January, Morgan Stanley expected that the demand for Android mobile phones in China would decline, coupled with a significant increase in inventory, and would carry out inventory correction after the Lunar New Year.
