Domestic mobile phone shipments in January 2022 were 33 million units: down 17.7% year-on-year

In recent years, domestic mobile phones have continued to evolve, and both the quality and category of products are constantly evolving. On February 17, Mobile China learned from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology that domestic mobile phone shipments in January 2022 were 33 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 17.7%. Among them, 5G mobile phone shipments were 26.322 million units, down 3.5% year-on-year, accounting for 79.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

Overall, in the domestic mobile phone market in January, many manufacturers launched new products, making a good start for 2022. There are 30 new models of mobile phones listed in the domestic market, down 43.4% year-on-year; of which 5G mobile phones account for half, 15 models, down 53.1% year-on-year, accounting for 50.0% of the number of new models listed in mobile phones in the same period. However, it can be found that compared with the "carnival" of the mobile phone market at the end of the year, the domestic mobile phone market in January is slightly "quiet" in comparison.

In terms of smartphones, in January 2022, smartphone shipments were 32.366 million units, down 18.2% year-on-year, accounting for 98.0% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. There were 28 new models of smartphones listed, down 31.7% year-on-year, accounting for 93.3% of the number of new models listed on mobile phones in the same period.

In addition, in January 2022, domestic brand mobile phone shipments were 25.652 million units, down 24.0% year-on-year, accounting for 77.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 26 new models were listed, down 48.0% year-on-year, accounting for 86.7% of the number of new mobile phone models listed in the same period.
