Apple has been hit by a class-action lawsuit alleging that the so-called "jelly rolling" issue on the iPad mini 6 caused the device to be "unusable."

Christopher Bryan's lawsuit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California alleges that sixth-generation iPad mini devices are defective due to "jelly rolling" issues.

Shortly after the release of the iPad mini 6, users began reporting a shaking or "jelly" effect as they scrolled on the device. The problem is obviously caused by a slower refresh rate on one side of the device's display than on the other.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs also claimed that "the user reported motion sickness, nausea, vomiting and migraines due to defects while using the device".

Apple dismissed the issue as early as September 2021, saying that the "jelly effect" is the normal behavior of LCD displays. Wednesday's lawsuit also challenged that, saying other LCD screens don't have the serious "jelly scrolling" problem of the iPad mini.

In addition, the lawsuit alleges that Apple was aware of the defect but is still selling iPad minis, but has not taken steps to fix the defect or modify marketing materials to reflect the defect. The complaint alleges that Apple "concealed" the defective nature of the device. As for the specific allegations, the lawsuit alleges Apple fraud, as well as violations of California competition regulations and false advertising laws.

The complaint calls for a jury trial seeking damages and monetary relief for the purchaser of the iPad mini 6.
