On May 1, 1960, it was transformed into the first widescreen cinema in Jinan. It was rebuilt in 1963 and converted into a stereo widescreen cinema in 1965. During the Cultural Revolution, it was changed to the Dongfanghong Cinema. This cinema is also one of the only remaining long-established cinemas in old Jinan that are still showing.
