Korean retired athlete Ahn Hyun-so currently serves as a technical instructor for the Chinese team. He won three Winter Olympic gold medals for South Korea and Russia. He was heavily disputed in South Korea because he had left Korean citizenship to join Russia and mentor China. His experience is truly colorful.

In 2005, a "senior" player in Short Track Speed Skating in South Korea asked Ahn Hyun-so to give up the gold medal at the Universiade, but Ahn Hyun-soo refused. As a result, he was beaten up by the "senior".

Later, at the 2006 Winter Olympics, although Ahn Hyun-so won three golds and one bronze, even the 500 speed skating silver medalist Canadian athletes expressed surprise after the game, because other South Korean players chased and blocked Ahn Hyun-so on the field, afraid that he would win the championship.

Ahn Hyun-so was then abandoned by the South Korean national team due to injury. The former world champion not only can no longer play for the Korean team, but also can't even find a training ground.

There was no reason why Ahn Hyun-so chose to become a Naturalized Russian. After treatment and recovery in Russia, he won three gold medals at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Ahn Hyun-so did leave South Korea to serve other countries, but it was South Korea that failed Ahn Hyun-so first. What's more, sports have no borders, which was often said when China was poor, when foreigners dug up athletes from China.
