Tutoring children with homework is a problem that every family has to face. Not talking about homework, fatherly kindness and filial piety, talking about homework, chicken flying dog jump, is also the state of most parents and children.
Whether or not to tutor children with homework and interfere with children's learning has also become the focus of heated discussion among parents.
Which way is it good for children to learn?
Some parents think that children write homework, parents must stare, but also to move a chair and children to sit together, can not slack off for a moment, only in this way children will seriously write homework, otherwise they will procrastinate, one will play with erasers and one will play with stationery boxes.
There are also some parents who think that they should let their children complete their homework independently, and as long as they are responsible for checking after the child completes the homework, staring at the homework will increase the psychological burden of the child, so that the child is in a state of anxiety, not to mention that the child needs to learn independently sooner or later.

Which is better to stare at children's learning and develop independent learning ability? There may not be an exact answer to this question, but we can start with a study.
In April 2021, a team from Beijing Normal University released the "First Regional Education Quality Health Examination Report" in China, which lasted seven years and involved 2638 primary schools, 1322 junior high schools and 140 high schools in 181 districts and counties.
The report points out that for primary school students, especially young primary school students, the more parents participate in their children's learning, the better their children's grades; from the upper grades of primary school, it is counterproductive.
Let's look at the two interesting psychological phenomena of "needle piercing psychology" and "Hawthorne effect", which explain the advantages and disadvantages of writing homework with your child in disguise, and see which kind of child your child belongs to.
Needle psychology: the more you stare at the child, the more you can't write well
When we sew needles, the more concentrated we are, the more we can't wear them, just as the more purposeful we do, the easier it is to backfire.
In the same way, if parents stare at their children writing homework, the children will have a certain amount of pressure invisibly.
And many parents also have a bad habit, they will point out when their children write homework, stare at one question after another, and even because they can't write well, they will be angry.
There is such a practice please check yourself, this will make the child more nervous, the result can only be the more nervous the more prone to error, the more mistakes the more critical, and finally a vicious circle.
Hawthorne Effect: Without paying attention, it is difficult for children to concentrate on their homework
In the 1920s and 1930s, American researchers did an interesting experiment at the Hawthorne plant of Western Power in Chicago, which was divided into two stages:
The first stage mainly studies the relationship between working conditions and production efficiency, and determines whether these factors can directly affect the level of production efficiency by constantly changing factors such as lighting, wages, rest time, lunch and so on in the workshop, but the final result is very regrettable;
The second stage is to arrange the selected experimental objects in a special laboratory and led by researchers, because the social situation has changed, the workers feel that they have received attention and attention, and are an important part of the company, which in turn is encouraged and the production efficiency is greatly improved.
From this point of view, if the child can receive attention and attention when writing homework, his learning efficiency will be significantly improved.
It is not good to pay attention to children too much, it is not good not to pay attention to children, and parents are really confused by the second monk. What kind of attention will be more effective with half the effort, and will it better improve the child's performance?
In fact, these two psychological phenomena are not contradictory, the key depends on the age of the child and the way parents "stare".
What should parents do?
First- and second-graders help a lot
It is impossible for a child from scratch to complete homework independently without the parents' involvement.
Studies have shown that first-graders usually spend 15-20 minutes concentrating on 15-20 minutes, and the likelihood of them concentrating on each lesson at the end of the day is extremely low.
Therefore, in the process of completing the homework, parents need to participate in time to help the child solve the problems encountered in the homework, do not complain, and at the same time help them consolidate the knowledge they have learned and borrow appropriate punishments to train the child's self-control.
In the third and fourth grades, take the children across the hurdles
At this age, the cognitive level of children will improve and begin to solve problems through logic, induction, etc., so the curriculum of the third and fourth grades will be relatively difficult, but the child's cognitive level cannot be generalized, there is a distinction between morning and evening.
For children with late cognitive development, they will have some difficulty in learning the curriculum, and their grades will decline, at this time parents should give their children more autonomy and cannot let it go.
If the child is involved in the formulation of rules, when the child encounters learning difficulties, parents should encourage the child.
Of course, do not stare too carefully, the child writes a wrong question immediately began to correct, will only make his head blank, it is recommended that the child do a unit and then unified examination, but also conducive to the absorption and understanding of the brain.
For children who develop cognitive levels earlier, if there is not too much problem, they can begin to develop independent learning ability.
After the fifth and sixth grades, learn to let go
The sooner parents let go, the sooner their children can experience "trial and error."
After the child goes to junior high school, adolescence has officially begun, at this time, if the parents manage the child, it is easy to have conflicts and contradictions with the child, so it may as well be let go, let the child try and make mistakes early, and know the learning early.
