Yuzhong District is the "mother city" of Chongqing, the strong district of Chongqing's cultural relics region, with 58% of the city's national key cultural relics protection units, these cultural relics carry the Bayu culture, anti-war culture, Hongyan spirit and other heavy cultural heritage, record the "roots" and "source" of Chongqing, condensed the essence of mountain city, river city, sleepless city.

In recent years, Yuzhong District has focused on the construction of humanistic Chongqing, with high standing positions to promote the protection and upgrading of "Red Three Rocks", implemented the protection and utilization of key cultural relics such as the former sites of foreign institutions in Chongqing, the former sites of anti-war financial institutions, and the Datianwan Stadium with high standards, coordinated the promotion of traditional style areas such as the Eighteen Ladders, Shancheng Lane, and Zhongshan Fourth Road with high quality, promoted the integrated development of culture and commerce and tourism based on Huguang Guild Hall, Zengjiayan Academy, and Yangtze River Ropeway from a high starting point, vigorously developed museums, and helped the construction of the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor, fully demonstrating the "old Chongqing negatives, The charm of the new Chongqing living room has dressed up the city business card of "near and far, the host and the guest share", and has become the center and window to show Chongqing's rich history and humanistic characteristics.

Up to now, there are 149 immovable cultural relics (173 points) in Yuzhong District. There are 30 open museums (exhibition halls) in the jurisdiction, including 2 first-class museums such as Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum and Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum, and 4 non-state-owned museums such as Chongqing Yuzhong District Friendship Flying Tigers Museum and Chongqing Civic Medicine Museum, and the number of museums (exhibition halls) ranks first in the city.
It is worth mentioning that by the end of 2021, Yuzhong District has a total of 64 items of intangible cultural heritage (including 3 items of national intangible cultural heritage, 30 items of municipal intangible cultural heritage, and 64 items of district level intangible cultural heritage), 110 inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, including 3 representative inheritors at the national level, 18 representative inheritors at the municipal level, and 89 representative inheritors at the district level.

It is understood that in the next step, the Yuzhong District Cultural and Tourism Committee will accelerate the protection and utilization of key cultural relics such as the ruins of the Southern Song Dynasty Office of the Old Drum Tower, the ancient city wall of Chongqing, and the former site of the China Democratic Revolutionary League, and promote the protection and display of historical and cultural style blocks such as Datian Bay - Cultural Palace - Great Hall, so that the city will have more humanistic norms, book fragrances, and fireworks.
