Author Gao Yuqing Hu Jian

Travel back to the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi periods, wander between the ancient streets and alleys of Jinyang City, and feel the "fireworks" in the ancient world. It sounds like a "fantasy", but now, technology empowers museums to "tide" expression, making it all "possible".

3D scanning, VR, holograms, screen projection... In recent years, in museums across China, in addition to audio explanations, text introductions, picture displays and other conventional means, all kinds of digital technologies have emerged in an endless stream, and these "fancy" innovations have attracted more and more people to "walk" into ancient times and approach history.

On the 12th, the reporter came to the Taiyuan Museum to visit the "tide application" in the museum.

In the ongoing "Splendid Taiyuan History and Culture Exhibition", digital technology application scenarios can be seen in many display areas such as the murals of Xu Xianxiu's tomb in Northern Qi, Yu Hong's tomb and so on. Among them, an immersive corridor called "Bafu Betsu" has now become a "net red punching point" for visitors.

The reporter followed the staff step by step along the middle of the corridor, only to see one lotus flower after another "blooming" with the footsteps under the interactive projection technology on the ground, like "people swimming in the middle of the painting". On both sides of the corridor, on both sides of the exhibition board wall of about 15 meters long and about 3 meters high, the staff used three-dimensional technology to design the scene and reproduce the street appearance of the ancient capital Jinyang (now Taiyuan).

Walking into the "city gate", I saw a few soldiers standing guard at the gate, and not far away, a group of people were watching the city gate notice. Children playing with gyros, vendors with umbrellas and fruit, women looking at fabrics and jewelry, tea drinkers at tea houses... The streets are bustling with traffic and people, and it is a bustling scene.

Ganlu, a docent of the Public Service Department of the Taiyuan Museum, said that the camels, carriages, buildings, etc. in the picture were designed according to the characteristics of Jinyang City in the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi periods at that time, "so that visitors can feel immersed when they cross the street."

Let the artifacts speak, let history speak. The exhibition area of Daizhuang Golden Tomb located in the museum is composed of an immersive three-fold curtain, a ground atmosphere screen, and a transparent screen. According to reports, through digital means to deconstruct the tomb architecture, so that the elements on the mural "come alive", this immersive visual effects experience, allows visitors to immerse themselves in the "underground world" and explore the tomb culture of the Jin Dynasty.

The above technology not only brings "new" experiences to tourists, but also adds a lot to the work of commentators. Ganlu has been engaged in explanatory work for 7 years, and in her opinion, this technological experience is more vivid and intuitive than the text commentary, and tourists are more receptive and interested. "High technology can assist us in explaining the content, so that visitors can more fully understand the historical artifacts."

From the historical knowledge learned in the textbook to witnessing the archaeological objects of the museum, some student visitors believe that digital technology has activated the original solidified history, making the text in the textbook "alive" and making them "closer to history". (End)
