The new Sanxingdui Museum is located in the Sanxingdui Museum Park, covering an area of 66 acres and a construction area of 55,000 square meters, which is 5 times the construction area of the existing venue.

The design of the new sanxingdui museum adheres to the concept of "combining the museum and the park", adheres to the three principles of "concealment, coordination and practicality", considers the relationship with the heritage park and the existing exhibition hall as a whole, integrates the new museum and the visitor center, and the three units of the main building face the Sanxingdui heritage area, the old museum and the park area, forming a spatio-temporal dialogue between the "museum" and the "heritage area", which not only takes into account the unified image of the park, but also takes into account the existing style of the museum. After the completion of the Sanxingdui Museum, the shape of the new museum will be combined with the landform, historical sites and cultural relics and plastic arts, aiming to create a museum community that integrates original charm and contemporary aesthetics.

Highlight the three stars in the pile, inheriting the ancient and modern. The design of the new museum continues to develop the classic spiral curve exterior wall of the Bronze Pavilion, and extracts lines from the cultural relics of Sanxingdui as the control curve of the shape and interior space of the three piles. The roof adopts the sloped earth covering form, which echoes with the shape of the comprehensive pavilion left and right, forming three overlying piles arranged along the central axis, which means "three stars in the pile", so that the shape concept of the building is homologous to inherit the name of the "three star pile" site. The basic exhibition of the new museum will strengthen and closely follow the archeological culture characterization of "ancient city ancient country ancient Shu culture", consolidate the existing research results, and enrich the latest archaeological information. In terms of architectural performance, the solid and thick façade reveals the "Eye of Ancient Shu" and looks in the direction of the ruins area, symbolizing the window of the Sanxingdui culture displayed to the outside world, and is a metaphor for the ancient Shu civilization to gaze at the world through ancient and modern times.

Highlight the people-oriented, scientific and technological empowerment. The design of the new building adopts BIM building information modeling technology and parametric modeling technology, and different treatment methods in different environments, so that the building can be naturally integrated into the park environment. During the construction process, the latest smart construction site technology will be used, and high-tech means such as artificial intelligence, sensing technology, virtual reality, and Internet of Things technology will be used to improve the construction efficiency of the new museum.
