In fact, this name comes from the pronunciation of the word "roof" in English, which is similar to the "tiger" in Shanghainese, so it is pronounced "tiger window" by Shanghainese in pidgin English. Once upon a time, the sirens in the shikumen were everywhere, and people built lofts to increase the utilization of space. Today, the berm window has become a cultural symbol presented in classic historical buildings, telling the past and present of the intersection of East and West in the city of Shanghai.

At the foot of Phoenix Mountain on the shores of Hangzhou's West Lake, there is the site of the Tiger Cave Kiln. In 1996, a large number of celadon fragments and kiln tools in tiger caves were accidentally discovered due to the impact of rain.

According to archaeological excavations, the remains of Tiger Cave can be divided into three periods: the Southern Song Dynasty, the Early Yuan Dynasty and the Late Yuan Dynasty. Among them, the remnants of the Southern Song Dynasty are the Xiunei Siguan kiln, the workshop is exquisitely built, and a large number of porcelain pieces that can be put together and shaped have been excavated, with beautiful shapes. Among the five famous kilns of the Song Dynasty, "Chai, Ru, Guan, Ge, and Ding", the Ru kiln, the official kiln, and the Ding kiln already have exact kiln sites, but the Ge kiln is controversial due to the indistinguishability of the data. The discovery of the Tiger Cave kiln site provides important archaeological material for the origin of the Kiln.
