About the painter:
Meng Chuanru, pen name Shi Niu, born in 1939 in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, graduated from Xi'an Normal School in Shaanxi Province in 1959 majoring in fine arts, graduated from the Department of Chinese Painting of China University of Calligraphy and Painting correspondence in 1990, is a senior teacher in middle school, a senior calligrapher and painter, a national first-class artist, and is now a member of the Shaanxi Provincial Art Association and the Shaanxi Landscape Painting Research Association, and an art consultant of the China National Literature and Art Network. Executive Vice President of the China Traditional Culture Exchange Association, Vice President of the Artist Faculty Committee of the Chinese Traditional Art Appraisal and Evaluation Committee, Vice Chairman of the Editorial Board of Famous Works of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, and Specially Invited Painter. His works have been approved by the China Art Brand Evaluation Committee as the top brand of Chinese art, and have become the national ceremonial art masters recommended to the world.
His works are painted with visual reflections, shaped by the pen, intended to be outside the pen, and realistically express natural social and humanistic life. In the creation of landscape painting, he created his own creative ideas and forms of expression. With innovative style and the atmosphere of the times, both majestic and beautiful, profound artistic conception, highlighting the national spirit, composition is rich but not congested, color is bright but not charming, elegant and popular appreciation.
His works have won various awards such as first prize, gold medal, golden knight award, merit award and so on in domestic and foreign exhibition competitions and works selection. In 2011, he won the gold medal of the Leonardo da Vinci International Art Competition, and in 2013, he won the Lifetime Achievement Award of the First Feitian Award and the Gold Award of special contribution to foreign exchanges awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
Over the years, he has been awarded many honorary titles such as Chinese calligraphy and painting masters, Chinese contemporary powerful Chinese painters, outstanding contributors to Traditional Chinese culture, and leading figures of China's intangible cultural heritage. In 2013, the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China awarded the honorary title of "National Major Contribution Artist".
His works and profiles have been compiled and published in hundreds of important national art documents, dictionaries, calligraphy and painting albums, newspaper and periodical websites, such as "Celebrity Dictionary of Chinese Contemporary Art", "20 Top Art Masters of National Essence", "Celebrity Database of Chinese Literature and Art Circles", "Leading Figures of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting", "Chinese Art Anthology", etc. He was selected as the editor of China Artists Magazine for the "Hundred Masters of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting - Famous Calligraphers and Painters Going to the World", which was presented to the 60th anniversary of the United Nations as a national gift. In 2013, his works were selected for the large-scale series of special editions of "Cultural Powerhouse" edited by the Cultural and Artistic Talent Center of the Ministry of Culture.
