The beauty of interdisciplinarity empowers co-education. In order to deepen the implementation of the concept of "English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education", the comprehensive practice of English from an interdisciplinary perspective was discussed, so as to achieve the goal of cultivating students' core literacy. On the afternoon of May 7th, the seminar of the fifth tutor group of primary school English in Nanhai District was held in Luxin Primary School in Lishui Town, Director Wu Shaoqin, the head of the tutor group, and 9 famous teachers of the tutor group, Zhong Zhuanmei, principal of Baoan Primary School in Leping Town, Sanshui District, and the English subject group, Director Fu Lirong, a part-time English teacher and researcher of Lishui Town Primary School, and the members of the famous teacher's studio and representatives of English teachers in primary schools in Lishui Town attended the event. This teaching and research activity is divided into three parts: wonderful lesson examples, brainstorming to promote discussion, and micro-lectures to enjoy wisdom.
Wonderful lesson examples
Under the design concept of the overall teaching of the unit, Mr. Chen from the text to the practice, guiding students to pay attention to the environment and enhance the sense of belief of the new citizens of Lishui. By designing interlocking question chains, Mr. Chen guided students to discuss and learn in groups and share with the help of multimodal corpora such as videos, pictures, and texts. The whole learning process reflects a student-centered exploratory learning style.
The second lesson was taught by Ms. Chen Binghua of Ping Chau Central Primary School to teach To be a Tie-Dye Maker with Food, based on real-life problems, Ms. Chen guided students to think about how food dyes are made and what colors of dyes can be made into different foods based on real-life problems. Students learn in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, the design of the question chain fully stimulates the students' desire to explore, and the sufficient language scaffold clears the obstacles for students to express themselves in English in the process of practice, and the whole lesson highlights the educational value of the subject.
Brainstorming for discussion
In the course evaluation session, the tutor group fully affirmed the solid basic skills and classroom teaching ability of the two teachers, and conducted in-depth exchanges and evaluations on the highlights and suggestions of the two classes from different perspectives. The famous teachers of the tutor group pointed out that this is an active exploration and beneficial attempt of interdisciplinary integration, and realizes the exploration of two paths of English comprehensive practice activities. Interdisciplinary integration is to solve the pendulum dilemma of "life logic" and "discipline logic", starting from solving real-life problems, designing inquiry-based learning tasks, and interdisciplinary integration can achieve the desired results.
Wisdom in miniature lectures
Yang Li, a teacher from Dali Town Central Primary School, shared the theory and case practice of interdisciplinary theme learning. Mr. Yang talked about the core concepts, concepts, and specific implementation paths, so that the participating teachers could be more clear about the requirements of interdisciplinary theme learning in theory and practice.
Finally, Li Guiyu, vice principal of Lvxin Primary School in Lishui Town, pointed out that this comprehensive English practice activity from an interdisciplinary perspective has built a platform for teachers to communicate and learn, and allowed teachers to have a deeper understanding of the concept and method of subject integration. It is hoped that teachers can combine theory with teaching practice, improve their professional quality, promote the real implementation of the new curriculum standards, and continue to polish the brand of Nanhai Education.
