Why is there a New Year painting in the illustration exhibition? In fact, new year paintings are equivalent to the illustrations drawn by our predecessors, and they are used for commercial illustrations. In the works of New Year paintings, the spiritual core is traditional culture, and the form of expression is illustration with woodblocks as a technical means. Woodblock prints can be called one of the most successful commercial illustrations in ancient China. It originated in the Song Dynasty, flourished in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and reached its peak during the Kangqian period. With the change of people's lifestyle, the custom of New Year painting has gradually been forgotten, but as a folk art form, its aesthetic value and cultural value have not disappeared, and after the washing of time, it has revealed a unique sense of beauty. When visitors stand in front of the pictures that have lasted for a hundred years, they can feel the mood of the people celebrating the New Year and the lively scene of welcoming the new year.
