At home to fight the epidemic, have you found that in recent days, the sound of birds calling is particularly gentle and clear? Spring has arrived, hundreds of birds greet spring with songs, and Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Art Expo Museum has also specially planned the "Listening to Heaven - Wan fu contemporary brush flower and bird painting exhibition" for everyone, first of all, through the Expo's WeChat public account to hold an online preview, let us welcome spring together.
"The Poppy of the East"
"Magnolia Sparrow"
"Peach Blossom Peach-faced Peony Parrot"
"Tulip Red-eared Grebe"
"Sakura Red-billed Acacia Bird"
Wan Fu is a powerful flower and bird painter on the sea. She innovates on the basis of traditional flower and bird painting, and integrates her observation of nature and feelings of urban life into her creation, thus forming her own unique style of painting flowers and birds. With the theme of "Listening to Heavenly Sounds", this exhibition has made an academic review of Wan Fu's creation and practice over the past ten years, from which we can see how artists have transformed traditional brush paintings of flowers and birds into contemporary times.
The first section of the exhibition is Wan Fu's works with the theme of "Hundred Flowers and Hundred Birds", which were exhibited at the Liu Haisu Art Museum in 2021 and are an extension of the 10th Flower Expo.
Lily Canary
"Bougainvillea Orange-headed Ground Plover"
"Hydrangea White-waisted Suzaku"
Vermilion Red Yellow-cheeked
Water Lily Red-tailed Water Plover
Wan Fu has a deep foundation in flower and bird painting sketching, through careful observation of flowers and birds, she pays attention to "writing gods in shape" in traditional brush paintings, and at the same time, she has also conducted in-depth research on "color with categories", and has done just the right treatment between the intensity and lightness of colors. The picture is simple but not empty, and the complex is not stuffed, reflecting her understanding of traditional gongbi flower and bird painting. These works are not only a dialogue between flowers and birds, but also a dialogue between artists and nature.
Camellia Climbing Sparrow
"Hibiscus Yellow-throated Bunting"
"Pansy Tiger Striped Burrow"
Chrysanthemum Dai Ju
"Trumpet Narcissus Silver-breasted Silk Crowned Bird"
The second section, "City Shadow", is a contemporary work in which artists transform tradition, from which we can see the artist's attitude towards tradition and how to find an innovative point between tradition and contemporary.
Since the 1990s, both figure painting and landscape painting have reached a certain height on the road of contemporary ink painting. In contrast, the development of Gongbi painting is difficult. If we say that pen and ink are contemporary, then how can traditional flower and bird painting reflect the life and environment we are currently in through innovation? This is the focus of the artist in his innovative practice.

"City Shadow (III)"
"City Shadow (I)"
"City Shadow (5)"
In the "City Shadow" series of works, the background is no longer nature, but the buildings in the city. The artist puts the method of flowers and birds in the form of the architectural space, whether it is flowers, birds or buildings, all of which have been simplified, and the expression of light in the background increases the sense of space of the picture. Although there is no connection between birds and birds, it can make us think about how to reset the relationship between humans and nature in the process of rapid urban development.
The third section is an interactive installation. You will see birds and butterflies of different forms passing through the flowers, and the cherry blossoms in Gucun Park will be in harmony with the spring colors of the cherry blossoms. This vibrant work of spring art needs to be completed by artists, curators and citizens.
Looking forward to the early passage of the epidemic, please come to the exhibition site to add a sum of spring colors to this time.
