The solo exhibition "Lu Chuntao: Title Page" opened, presenting the aesthetic interest of the 10-year painting "Lotus Pond".

The solo exhibition "Lu Chuntao: Title Page" by the famous Shanghai artist Lu Chuntao was held at the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts from April 27th to May 16th.

Lin Shuchuan, deputy director of the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, said at the opening ceremony that "Lu Chuntao: Title Page" exhibited 29 works created by artist Lu Chuntao in the past 10 years, mainly in the "Lotus Pond" series of pure ink paintings. The "title page" is the first page of the book, giving people a sense of anticipation. Therefore, the "title page" not only refers to the image of "lotus pond", but also refers to the aesthetic interest and imagery of the artist behind the work.

Xie Hai, art critic and curator, introduced Lu Chuntao's creative process at various stages. From the creation of the "Shanghai School" series, to the exploration of "vase flowers", to the later creation of a series of works with a "sense of wasteland" based on his hometown Chongming Island and the tidal flats as the object of expression, after 2010, Lu Chuntao began to create the "Lotus Pond" series, which is his works in the past 10 years. Xie Hai believes that looking back at Lu Chuntao's 20 years of creative experience, it is closely related to the development of contemporary Chinese ink painting, and through his works, we can also understand the current situation of contemporary Chinese ink painting.

Artist Lu Chuntao said that this solo exhibition is his first appearance in Nanjing, which is a recognition of his personal artistic exploration, and I will continue to demand myself with higher standards, constantly explore the boundaries of art, and present diverse artworks to the audience.

Li Xiaoshan, the artistic director of this exhibition, said that the threshold for painting is very low, and everyone can paint, but the standard of painting is very high, and it is difficult to paint well. Now there are too many painters, most of them "intentionally plant flowers without flowers", but the artist Lu Chuntao is "unintentionally planting willows and willows".
