The Household Administration Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security released the 2021 National Name Report on the 24th, counting the names of 8.873 million newborns born in 2021 and registered with the public security organs. Among them, 4.681 million male newborns, accounting for 52.75%, and female newborns 4.192 million, accounting for 47.25%. "Ze" rose from the seventh place in 2020 to the first place last year, becoming the most favored word for newborn parents, while nearly 23,000 male newborns were named "Mu Chen" and more than 18,000 female newborns were named "Ruoshi".

Among the newborn names born in 2021 and have been registered for household registration, the top five with the highest frequency of use are Ze, Zi, Zi, Yu, Mu, etc. Compared with the first 50 words that parents named most in 2020, the four words of Xi, Rui, Lin and Hang were added last year, of which the word "Shio" ranked 20th. The ranking of 16 characters represented by "Ze" rose, and the ranking of another 30 words was not as good as in 2020.

Of the male newborns born in 2021 who have been registered for household registration, a total of seven names are newly listed, of which the most frequently used name is "Muchen", with nearly 23,000 people. "Haoyu" is the only one among the top ten names in 2020 and 2021 to rise, "Yichen" fell from the top of the list in 2020 to the fifth place, "Yuxuan" fell from the second place to the ninth place, and the specific number of newborns has declined.

Among the female newborns born in 2021 and have been registered, the number of users of "Ruoshi" reached 18,000, topping the list and becoming the first choice for female newborn names. Compared with 2020, Ruoxi, Yihan and Xiangmu entered the top ten for the first time, except for "Yutong", which rose slightly from the ninth place in 2020 to the seventh place, and the ranking of the names shortlisted in the other two years has declined.

Since 2018, the Household Administration Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security has released a national name report for three consecutive years, and all sectors of society generally believe that the report is of great significance for inheriting and developing Chinese name culture, and has great reference value for children's names. The report also provides a statistical analysis of common surnames, common personal names and geographical distributions across the country.
