On January 1, 1938, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the people of Tai'an, Laiwu, Xintai and Surabaya in Shandong Province, under the direct leadership of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, launched an armed uprising in the Laoshan area southeast of Tai'an City, Shandong Province, to carry out the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

The anti-Japanese armed uprising in Laolaishan was an uprising directly initiated and led by the Shandong Provincial CPC Committee, which played the role of the source of the Shandong War of Resistance and the seed role of the Shandong Anti-Japanese Contingent, played the banner of the Eighth Route Army for the first time in Shandong, fired the first shot of the Shandong Provincial CPC Committee's independent leadership of the Shandong War of Resistance, and unveiled the prelude to the Shandong Provincial Party Organization's independent leadership of the War of Resistance.

Today, 84 years later, this famous armed uprising in the War of Resistance Against Japan has been put on the screen, recreating for us the immortal belief of heroes and children in defending their families and defending the country in those fiery years.

The drama takes the anti-Japanese armed uprising in The Lailai Mountain as the background, and the growth of the character Yang Dongliang in the play as the main line, laying out the heroic history of qilu's sons and daughters in the war of resistance.

Yang Dongliang is the second son of Yang Shounan, the mayor of Yatou Village at the foot of the Laolai Mountain, who has learned to punch and kick since he was a child, has a quick hand, and has a clear love-hate personality. At the age of nineteen, he watched the performance of the Zizi opera class in Zhuangli and fell in love with the fifteen-year-old Dao Ma Dan Hu Lamei. After being injured by Hu Lamei's flower gun during the performance, the two formed an indissoluble relationship.

Later, on the mountain road to marry the bride Hu Lamei, Yang Dongliang and others encountered the bandit leader Ju Zhenshan of Banjiu Mountain to rob his relatives, and the young and vigorous Yang Dongliang led people to suppress the bandits, but accidentally hit and killed two Japanese scouts.

At this time, Yang Shounan's eldest son, Yang Dongliang's brother Yang Dongshan, took Feng Chao and other comrades of the provincial party committee back to Yatouzhuang to prepare for the uprising, but they were unexpectedly betrayed by the traitor Lü Maoheng, and the inducement of two things eventually led to Yatouzhuang being bloodied by the Japanese squadron led by Takahiro Hamano, and the villagers were killed and injured countless times.

After Yatouzhuang was bloodied by the Japanese army, Yang Dongliang, Hu Lamei and several villagers survived, and they were brought into the four detachments of the Eighth Route Army that had just sworn an uprising by their brother Yang Dongshan, and an ordinary villager became a soldier of the Eighth Route Army.

In order to avenge the massacre of their parents and villagers by the Japanese army, Yang Dongliang and his wife Hu Lamei, under the leadership of Feng Chao, Yang Dongshan, the leaders of the four detachments of the Eighth Route Army, successfully sneaked into Taicheng, and with the help of many anti-Japanese partners, destroyed a series of strategic plans of the Japanese army, and cooperated with the four detachments to annihilate the Japanese troops led by Takahiro Hamano in one fell swoop.

In the face of the feelings of home and country, the children's love of Yang Dongliang and Hu Lamei has been integrated into the brand of the times, they are not only husband and wife, but also comrades-in-arms who fight together and grow together.
