During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Eighth Route Army had three divisions under its command, and the 129th Division was one of them. The predecessor of the division was reorganized from the Red Fourth Front during the Red Army period. Friends who may know history know that during the period of land reform, the Red Fourth Front Army in the Eyu-Anhui base area was a unit with strong combat effectiveness and the ability to recruit good soldiers, and the number of soldiers reached 80,000 at its peak, surpassing the Red Army at that time.
After being reorganized into the 129th Division, the division participated in large and small ambush battles during the eight-year War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, with thousands of guerrilla battles, such as: night attacks on Yangmingbao airfield, blowing up enemy aircraft, and largely reinforcing the Battle of Xinkou. There are also classic ambush battles such as the Battle of God of War Tou ling, which was also fought by the 129th Division, as well as the Battle of Qiqi Village, the Battle of Xiangtangpu, the Battle of Changle Village, and the Battle of hundred regiments. Liu Shuai
For example, Liu Shuai and Xu Shuai, the two most outstanding military figures of the 129th Division, once held the positions of commander and deputy commander of the 129th Division. Moreover, Liu Shuai later became the commander of the Central Plains Field Army, commanded a series of battles to annihilate more than 100,000 enemy troops, and liberated a large number of county towns, such as Dingtao, Juye, Juancheng, Huaxian, and Giant Goldfish, all commanded by Liu Shuai. There are also thousands of miles to leap into the Dabie Mountains, which should be said to be a masterpiece of Liu Shuai's military command art, and at the same time, it is also the first shot for the strategic counterattack. In addition, during the liberation period, Xu Shuai served as the deputy commander of the North China Military Region and the commander of the 18th Corps, liberating Shanxi, and in the process, Xu Shuai commanded many classic battles in which less won more. Another was Wang Shusheng, who was a tiger general under Xu Shuai, the commander-in-chief of the Red Fourth Front, during the period of land reform, and at that time Wang Shusheng was a veteran general who had been in the battlefield for a long time. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Wang Shusheng assisted Liu Shuai in commanding many classic battles and became Liu Shuai's military assistant. After that, Wang Shusheng led his troops into the battlefield of western Henan, established an anti-Japanese base area, and formed the Henan Military Region, serving as commander. After that, after the Liberation War, in July 1947, he led his troops to advance into the Central Plains with Liu Deng's army, served as the commander of the Eyu Military Region, and cooperated with Liu Deng's main force to smash the "key clearance and suppression" of the Nationalist army, opening up the situation for the reconstruction of the Dabie Mountain base area.
