During the Spring Festival in 1941, Hanbi Village, Wuxiang County, Shanxi, located under the Taihang Mountains, was immersed in the joy of the festival, crackling and setting off firecrackers everywhere. At this moment, Chen Geng led the 386th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army to garrison here. As everyone knows, danger is creeping in.

As a result of the traitors' whistleblowing, the Japanese 15th Brigade was given the specific location of the Eighth Route Army. They sent a brigade and a company of puppet troops, disguised as the Shanxi Anti-Japanese Death Squad, and cut a small road to approach The Village of Hanbi. Taking advantage of the night and the sound of firecrackers, the Japanese army sneaked up on the sentries at the head of the village and quietly entered the village.

Because the sound of gunshots and firecrackers was too similar, everyone did not find anything unusual. The first to discover the enemy was Gao Zhipu, the chief of the military affairs section of the 386th Brigade Headquarters, who was patrolling with several soldiers when suddenly a group of Japanese troops pounced from the darkness. Gao Zhipu and several fighters were caught off guard, and there was no time to draw their guns, so they had to engage the Japanese short soldiers and engage in hand-to-hand combat. Due to the hasty preparations and the fact that the Japanese army was a well-trained master, several Eighth Route Army soldiers soon died heroically.

At this critical juncture, Su Jingcheng, director of the political department of the 386th Brigade, because he had the habit of getting up early, as soon as he went out, he found that the chief of the high section was fighting with the Japanese army, and he immediately reported to Chen Geng and shouted: "The Japanese army has entered the village!" The Japanese army has entered the village! Subsequently, Su Jingcheng was also hit by the Japanese army and fell into a pool of blood.

At the moment of crisis, Zhang Zuyu, the political commissar of the 772nd Regiment who lived in another village, rushed to the rescue with a guard platoon. After fighting hard, covering each other, and occupying favorable terrain, our army repelled three attacks by the Japanese and Kosso.

This experience of distress made Chen Geng unforgettable. Later, every Spring Festival, he would tell this story to the soldiers, reminding everyone that the more they were during the festival, the more they should be vigilant, and they must not let down their vigilance because of the New Year and repeat the same mistakes.

Festivals do not like war, but war prefers festivals. Whether it is a siege raid in the era of cold weapons or a lightning assault in modern warfare, many wars in history have been specially chosen to be carried out on holidays, that is, they want to launch a surprise attack when the opponent's thinking is the most paralyzed and the combat readiness is the most lax, and to win the greatest victory at the lowest cost.

On September 18, 1931, a few days later, the Mid-Autumn Festival, Zhang Xueliang was lying in a theater box in Beiping watching a play, when the Japanese army suddenly launched an attack, and the "September 18" incident broke out;

At the end of 1944, the victorious American army was preparing to celebrate Christmas, but the German army suddenly launched a fierce offensive, inflicting heavy damage on the Allied forces, known as the "Ardennes Campaign";

On June 7, 1981, Iraq was preparing for its national day, and Israeli warplanes arrived unexpectedly to bomb Iraq's nuclear facilities, and the famous "Babylon Operation" took 2 minutes...

Sun Tzu once said: "The love of a soldier is the main speed, taking advantage of the lack of a person, from the way of not worrying, attacking what he does not command." The military theorist Clausewitz also wrote: "One of the most important principles of offensive warfare is the surprise of the enemy." ”

Don't forget the past, the teacher of the future. Holidays seem to be peaceful and peaceful, festive and joyful on the surface, but on the calm water, there is a hidden killing machine. When the war will start and how it will be fought is difficult for us to predict, and for this reason many countries have stepped up their preparations for the festival. After the 9/11 incident, the US military raised the security alert level every major holiday. Since 2013, the Russian military has resumed a large-scale surprise combat readiness inspection system and strengthened the combat readiness work on holidays.

The more "the reunion day of ten thousand families, the time when the whole country celebrates", the more "the bow is full of strings, and the soldiers wear armor to sleep". For Chinese soldiers, war is an unavoidable topic; war readiness is a major event that cannot be slackened. The festival is never far from war, and the festival must not be unprepared. Facts have proved that the corrosion of thought is more terrible than the rust of guns, and the spiritual "horse puts the South Mountain" may be more harmful than the real "knife and gun into storage". Only by thinking more about "nothing to lose" can we ensure that "there is no mistake"; only by making more preparations for "the battle starts tonight" can we "pull out the chances of winning the fight." This requires the people's sons and soldiers to always maintain a state of alert with arrows on the string and ready to be launched, stick to their posts, and wait for the enemy. Only in this way can the country be peaceful and tranquil, and the people be happy and healthy.

This year's Spring Festival coincides with the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics. It is particularly important for military personnel to do a good job in combat readiness to ensure that the people of the whole country spend a happy, peaceful, and safe festival, and to ensure that the mainland dedicates a wonderful, extraordinary, and outstanding Winter Olympics to the world.

At this moment, when a family of young and old is smiling and sitting together and chatting, when the reunion of thousands of families raises their wine glasses and shares holiday blessings, in the desert Gobi, in the forest sea and snowy plains, in the deep mountains and dense forests, in the city streets, there are vigilant eyes of children and soldiers, clenched steel guns, and patrolling steps everywhere. At the wrong checkpoint of the Tibet Military Region, which is accompanied by strong winds of more than 8 degrees celsius all year round, the soldiers braved the freezing cold of several tens of degrees below zero, climbed the ice and lay down the snow, stuck to their posts like rivets, and defended the security of border defense; at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters above sea level, the officers and men of the Xinjiang Aksu Army's Dili Border Defense Company stepped onto the patrol road in front of the first rays of the morning sun; in the major streets, railway stations, and airports, our armed police officers and men worked tirelessly and day and night to patrol and perform their duties.

"There is a string that we are tensing, there is a mission that we carry on our shoulders, there is a storm that we keep an eye on..." Where there are good years, it is just someone who carries the weight for you. The people's sons and soldiers are on high alert, waiting for the enemy, fiercely fighting horses, holding bows and swords, and guarding the magnificent mountains and rivers of the motherland with youth and blood, responsibility and responsibility, sacrifice and dedication, protecting the beautiful era of paving the brocade and color, and guarding the happiness and safety of the masses of the people.

Let us say thank you, Chinese soldiers!
