At the beginning of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the 115th Division was divided into troops, and General Yang followed Nie Shuai to open up the Jin-Cha-Ji base area. He led more than 1,700 people of the independent regiment to meet the Japanese and the pseudo-Japanese, worked hard to start a business, and played the situation of the first district of Beiyue. Famous battles such as Dalonghua, Yansu Cliff, and Loess Ridge were all created by General Yang commanding the troops of the First Division. The 1st Regiment of the 1st Division, formerly known as the "Red 1st Regiment", killed Japanese Lieutenant General Norihide Abe in the Battle of Loess Ridge and was later reorganized into the Infantry Brigade stationed in Hong Kong; the 3rd Regiment of the 1st Sub-district was reorganized into the 193rd Division of the People's Liberation Army, which was the main division of the North China Military Region, and the origin was the famous "Red 1st Division".
Jin-Cha-Ji was more loose in management, mainly divided into three major blocks, Jizhong, Pingxi, and several military sub-districts reorganized from the 115th Division, of which Nie Shuai attached the greatest importance to General Yang's first division, and asked people and things to be as convenient as possible, so that some people issued micro-words, saying that Nie Shuai was too fond of General Yang. During the Liberation War, Yang Shang continued to fight under Nie Shuai, brought out the 20 corps of the North China Military Region, and became the "Royal Forest Army" defending the capital when the country was founded. In the nearly 20 years after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yang Shang will become a "sitting household" in North China and have long participated in the leadership of the General Staff.
