Despite her family's opposition to working as a special education worker, she used her love to spread the voice of more than 400 "teletubbies"

Children who have a cochlear implant or wear a hearing aid due to hearing impairment are commonly known as "teletubbies". It is not that they cannot speak, but that they cannot speak, and they need to be patiently and carefully rehabilitated.

At the Little Sunflower Rehabilitation Center in PaperFang Street, Jiangxia District, Wuhan City, Li Hongye, a post-90s special education teacher, is a "voice angel" who has been engaged in the industry for 13 years to make more than 400 hearing impaired children from all over the country speak and return to society. Because the nickname is Dissolved, everyone usually calls her Li Rongrong, and she is affectionately called "Dissolving Mother" by the children. She tailored a rehabilitation plan for each child and posted the teaching video to the short video platform, with a total of nearly 400 million people played, and tens of millions of netizens were deeply moved, calling her an "angel teacher".

Despite her family's opposition to working as a special education worker, she used her love to spread the voice of more than 400 "teletubbies"

Li Rongrong and the baby learn to sing and play games together.

For the first time, a 2-year-old baby makes an "ah" sound

Li Rongrong squatted on the ground, took a small piece of bread in his right hand, opened his mouth and shouted "Ah", pretending to put the bread in his mouth to eat it as a reward. Later, I demonstrated it in the same way with the teaching assistant teacher on the side.

The "teletubbies" Hexi (pseudonym), who was sitting on the small bench opposite, ignored it completely, crying and reaching out his small hand to grab the slice of bread in her hand. After two minutes of coming and going, Heech still couldn't make an "ah" sound. For a moment, Li Rongrong felt a little discouraged, and immediately adjusted his state and continued to patiently teach Xi Xi to pronounce.

"Ah..." Five minutes later, 2 years and 3 months old, Xi Xi made this sound for the first time on his own, and the assistant teacher next to him clapped his hands happily. On January 4, Xi Xi took Li Rongrong's first class, he had a cochlear deformity and auditory nerve hypoplasia, could not hear any sound, and it was difficult to learn to speak like a normal person, relying on the implanted cochlear implant to perceive sound.

"It's going to be hard at first, he doesn't know how to use his vocal cords to make a sound." Li Rongrong said, so she asked Xixi to touch her vocal cords and feel its vibrations, "For ordinary children, it is a very simple pronunciation, and hearing-impaired babies have to train hundreds or even thousands of times." ”

At the end of the course, Li Rongrong, who had squatted for more than half an hour, stood up and was a little dizzy. After a short pause, Li Rongrong went outside to communicate with Xixi's parents, who were waiting outside. They were very happy to hear that children could consciously make "ah" sounds.

Xixi's mother took off the mask and with tears suggested that the family of three take a photo with Li Rongrong, "Wait for Xixi to take another photo on the day of graduation, and then it will be very meaningful to put the two photos together." Mother Hirsch said with infinite hope. Li Rongrong confidently told her that it would only take about half a year, and Xi xi would be completely different.

Li Rongrong has this self-confidence, from volunteers to professional hearing impaired special education rehabilitation teachers for 13 years, more than 400 hearing impaired babies have reached the level of normal communication with children of the same age, graduated from her and returned to society.

She had been away from home for more than a year because of her parents' opposition

Li Rongrong's voice is gentle and delicate, slightly whispering with a doll's voice to communicate with the hearing-impaired baby. "My friends and classmates say I didn't grow up." Li Rongrong, a major in architecture at the university, said with a smile that his voice was still stuck at 18 years old.

In 2008, 18-year-old Li Rongrong, a freshman in college, once saw the rehabilitation center recruit volunteers on TV. Curious, she applied to volunteer. On the first day of volunteering, Li Rongrong found that Yang Yang (pseudonym) had leprosy on his head and went to the pharmacy to buy potions. The sore place was soaked with medicine, but Yang Yang bit his lip strongly and did not cry, which made Li Rongrong remember deeply.

It turns out that Yang Yang is not only hearing impaired, but also has a cleft lip. Due to the poverty of the family, Yangyang has no conditions for cochlear implants and cannot pronounce itself. After studying in the rehabilitation center for nearly a year, Yang Yang can communicate normally with his peers, and under the leadership of the teachers in the rehabilitation center, he has become very sunny and cheerful. Li Rongrong felt that this matter was very meaningful and decided to stay here and work.

Li Rongrong is the only daughter in the family, and at first her parents did not understand her choice. The first time my father came to see her at the rehabilitation center, he was particularly embarrassed, "When a baby had diarrhea, he pulled in the front, I cleaned up in the back, and the whole house was dirty. Li Rongrong recalled that his father was angry when he saw his daughter who he carefully cared for so hard, and asked her to resign immediately and go home.

After a big fight with his family, Li Rongrong moved out of his home in Wuchang and rented a basement of less than ten square meters near the rehabilitation center alone. "At that time, the monthly salary was 800 yuan, the rent was 200 yuan a month, two benches were put together, and a few wooden boards were placed in the middle." Li Rongrong said that a year later, her father came to see her again and wanted to get a good understanding of his daughter's work. Outside the classroom, an old man took her father's hand and said, "Thank you for having such a daughter, Teacher Rong is the great benefactor of our family." ”

It turned out that the grandson of the old man was also a hearing impaired baby, and under the efforts of Li Rongrong, he was already able to speak, no different from ordinary people. Later, her father pulled her aside and told her that she must treat this job well, not to kill children, and not to fail her parents. To this end, her parents not only re-rented a large house for her nearby, but also bought her a car for easy travel.

With the support of his family, Li Rongrong devoted himself to this career, working hard to learn professional knowledge and enrich teaching skills; he also participated in various trainings and various related vocational qualification certification examinations.

3-year-olds call "Mom" for the first time

Despite her family's opposition to working as a special education worker, she used her love to spread the voice of more than 400 "teletubbies"

Li Rongrong teaches hearing-impaired children to learn to speak.

The Little Sunflower Rehabilitation Center, where Li Rongrong is located, is a hearing rehabilitation institution for national enrollment, with nearly 200 babies with hearing impairment, Down syndrome and developmental delay all year round. Her students, ranging from two to seven, are the hardest to hear, "Every baby has the hope of a family, and I won't give up on any of them." Li Rongrong said.

Last month, at the graduation party of 7-year-old Hanghang (pseudonym), the child's mother clasped Li Rongrong's hand and said, "Teacher Rong, do you know?" We're ready to give up, and here's your last stop. At the beginning of last year, my mother took Hanghang from Guangdong to Jiangxia Paper Mill alone to find Li Rongrong, and after 6 years of seeking medical treatment everywhere, Hanghang could not speak. And here, Hanghang called Mom and Dad for the first time.

The 3-year-old Heng Heng (pseudonym) once made Li Rongrong have self-doubt. Before entering the rehabilitation center, each baby will be evaluated, and hengheng's assessment will not pass at that time. Before Li Rongrong could speak, Hengheng's mother cried: "My husband and I are teachers, and we have educated thousands of children to adults for so many years, how can we not teach my children well?" "Let the child stay, I'll find a way." Li Rongrong said.

In her experience, it usually only takes one lesson for her to have a way to get her hearing-impaired baby to speak. But she did everything in her power, and after a month and a half, Heng Heng was still silent. Fortunately, the kung fu paid off, and in a daily class, Heng Heng shouted out "Mother" without warning, and the teachers present were stunned, "and then screamed." Li Rongrong recalled, while Hengheng's mother outside the classroom squatted on the ground and cried into tears.

"It's not that we're teaching children, it's that children give us hope." Since then, Mr. Li said, she has firmly believed that there is no child she cannot teach.

The total number of views of the instructional videos is nearly 400 million

In May 2019, Li Rongrong posted a hearing impaired teaching video on Douyin, with more than 480,000 likes. So far, she has published hundreds of teaching short videos, with nearly 790,000 fans and nearly 400 million views.

This has to start with the hearing impaired baby Jingjing (pseudonym). At that time, Jingjing was in a full nursery class at school, and Jingjing's mother missed her children, so she asked Li Rongrong to take some pictures of Jingjing's class and daily life. Jingjing's mother posted the video to Douyin, which was liked by tens of thousands of netizens, and more than a week later, a teacher at the school told Li Rongrong that she was "red". Li Rongrong went to look at the vibrato video of Jingjing's mother, and found that many messages were consulting rehabilitation knowledge, and she replied one by one, often replying to one or two o'clock in the morning. "Why don't I sign up for an account myself and post instructional videos?" Li Rongrong thought for a moment and simply came by himself.

Some time ago, Li Rongrong received a bouquet of flowers sent by a mountain volunteer teacher, which contained a small card that said, "You are a beam of light in my life." It turned out that there was a hearing-impaired child in this teacher's class, and after he saw Li Rongrong's teaching video, he thought of trying the method in the video. After failing tens of thousands of times, the child suddenly said to the teacher one day, "Teacher, I want to drink water", which surprised the teacher.

"Love can be transmitted, and that bouquet of flowers is also a beam of light in my life." Li Rongrong said. Last summer, a college entrance examination student sent a private message saying that she volunteered to apply for the special education major, which made her feel that it was meaningful to send teaching videos.

Over the years, many recent college graduates have applied for special education teachers, but very few have stayed. "It's not enough to have love, you have to persevere." As long as there is a child who needs me, I will continue on the road of rehabilitation education. Li Rongrong said that he was very fortunate to have been exposed to a cute hearing-impaired baby at the age of 18, and he was also grateful to every child he met.
