The Chinese teacher will not tell you the true ending.
First, Sun Jing.
The Book of Han records: "Sun Jing, ziwenbao, eager to learn, morning and evening. And until sleep is tired, tie the head with a rope and hang the roof beam. It can be said that the scholar Sun Jing is the first person to hang the beam, very fond of reading, taking notes at any time when reading, often reading until the middle of the night, in order not to let himself doze off, so the head hangs on the beam, forcing himself to continue reading when he is tired.
When the teacher tells this "diligent and studious" story to the students, he usually says that Sun Jing has become a university scholar who is familiar with ancient and modern times as he wishes, and is famous far and wide, in fact, he consults historical documents, and there is no many records of Sun Jing, nor has he left a work in literature.
Perhaps Sun Jing later became an official, but he was not famous, as for the record of "later being a great Confucian of the time", I am afraid that it was not written by Ban Gu, the compiler of the Book of Han, it may have been added by Sun Jing or his descendants, and now we often say that "the combination of work and leisure, half the work", the head hanging beam still needs to be used at the right time and place.
Second, Su Qin.
The Warring States Policy records: "(Su Qin) was sleepy in his studies, and he stabbed himself with a cone, and the blood flowed to his feet. Compared with Sun Jing, Su Qin is more famous, he is a famous Zongheng family, diplomat and strategist in the Affairs of the Warring States, and has authored 31 articles of "Su Zi" and the book "Book of the Warring States Zongheng Family".
Su Qin was once a disciple of Ghost Guzi, the most famous thing is that he "joined the Six Kingdoms", so he was appointed as the chief of the covenant, as the minister of the six kingdoms, wearing the seal of the six kingdoms, at this time Su Qin was the most brilliant, the Qin state saw the alliance and did not rush to do anything, but fifteen years later, the alliance collapsed instantly, all the countries blamed Su Qin, and finally Su Qin car split and died.
Su Qin lobbied for the unification of the six kingdoms, naturally there was a lot of knowledge, but also superb speaking skills, but Su Qin emphasized the contradiction with the Qin state in the lobbying, and deliberately avoided talking about other aspects, so that the fundamental problems were not solved, and the alliance did not become a long-term solution.
Sun Jing and Su Qin were the inventors of "hanging beams" and "thorn stocks" respectively, but the former did not know how to change, although diligent but did not find a way to apply themselves, now, staying up late will not improve people's memory, fatigue and learning will only be counterproductive; while the latter cone thorns encourage themselves, but also make themselves famous, but what they do is like "virtual", not practical enough, the ending is miserable, and people sigh.
