In 1918, Yang Qindian was born in Luohe City, Henan Province.

In fact, Yang Qindian's life should draw a satisfactory end here, at least in his opinion. Because he was a soldier in order to be able to eat enough, and now that it has been achieved, he has nothing to pursue.

After entering the guard regiment, he naturally had the opportunity to become a close personnel around many influential figures, so he had the opportunity to stand guard for Song Ziwen and also salute Kong Xiangxi. In short, Yang Qindian served as a security guard for many Kuomintang politicians at that time.
At the same time, it may also be because of this "qualification" here, the Kuomintang feels that he is very reliable. Therefore, in 1948, he was sent to the Gele Mountain concentration camp and became the head of the guard squad of the White Mansion, whose job was to guard the "fierce and vicious criminals" in the White Mansion.
Together with the Zha Di Cave, the White Mansion is commonly known as the two hells of the Gele Mountain concentration camp, and is notorious for torture. But all the prisoners who came here, if they did not die, they also had to lose their skin, and many people were imprisoned here, and when Yang Qindian came here, there were Luo Guangbin, Luo Shiwen, Huang Xiansheng, Song Zhenzhong, Song Qiyun and other famous communists in the prison.
At first, Yang Qindian thought that since they were imprisoned here, then these people were definitely not a "good thing".
However, when he arrived at the White Mansion and talked to these people, he found that the people who were imprisoned here were either literati or progressives. Slowly, he began to sympathize with the "prisoners" coming.
And the revolutionary in the cell, with his keen sense of smell, also observed that Yang Qindian was very different from other spies, he was an honest man from a poor background, and he became a soldier purely to have food to eat and earn some money to support his family, and he was not a big traitor and a big evil person.
Therefore, as soon as he has time, everyone will tell him about the current form and the revolutionary principles.
Yang Qindian himself had also read some books, and he also knew about the major rights and wrongs, he knew very well that these "prisoners" were right, and over time, he began to use his power to seek convenience for these "prisoners", such as helping them deliver letters, extending their wind time, and so on.
But even so, in the end, he was just a small squad leader guarding the white mansion, and many things were involuntary.

In April 1949, Li Zongren, who had been brought to the forefront by Chiang Kai-shek but had no real power, failed in peace talks with the People's Liberation Army.

So Mao Renfeng, then director of the "Strongest Dog's Leg" Secrecy Bureau, immediately put Lu Jingqing, the head of the Baigongguan secret service under his command, in charge of the "killing" affairs, and Lu Jingqing called Yang Jinxing, who had been the director of the detention center of the Chongqing White Mansion since 1946, and Yang Qindian was his direct subordinate.
Chiang Kai-shek's greatest hatred should be that he was beaten by Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng during the "Xi'an Incident" and jumped off the wall in a panic. Although he was from the military, killing people was not unseen, but the scene of killing the little radish head has been dangling in Yang Qindian's mind since then, and it has been lingering. After all, it was only an 8-year-old child, and he was not a madman, how could he let go so easily?

On October 1, 1949, the People's Republic of China was founded.

Yang Qindian was frightened by this sentence, and quickly looked around, and then whispered, "Don't talk nonsense." After hearing the reply, Luo Guangbin advised: "Old Yang, listen to my advice, the Kuomintang is going to die, don't give them their lives." ”
After hearing the persuasion, Yang Qindian at this time also gradually had this thought in his heart.
With the passage of time, the front line was a great victory, seeing that the army was about to fall on the city of Chongqing, at this time Yang Qindian's heart became more and more anxious, very worried about what would happen to him after the People's Liberation Army conquered Chongqing.
Soon this day came, on November 27, 1949, the army had already entered Chongqing, the liberation of Chongqing was just around the corner, and the Kuomintang officials in Chongqing began to run away.
But while running away, they did not forget to do something unconscionable, they wanted to kill all the Communists imprisoned in their hands, which was the infamous 11.27 massacre.

On the same day, as the guard of the White Mansion, Yang Qindian was still on duty. Later, there was an emergency in the slag cave, and a large number of guards on the side of the White Mansion who were carrying out the massacre mission were urgently mobilized for reinforcements.
At this time, there are still 19 "political prisoners" in the White Mansion who have not yet been killed.
In the face of this situation, Yang Qindian, who stayed behind, thought to himself: He has already made a big mistake, and if he does not make up for it in time, this life is estimated to be completely over.
Thinking of this, Yang Qindian hurriedly ran with the key and a hammer to find the cell where Luo Guangbin was being held, saying that he could let go of all the remaining 19 people, and Luo Guangbin was very happy to hear about it.
But just listening to Yang Qindian, he didn't see him move, and he had been hesitating to urge him to make a decision quickly.
So Yang Qindian told Luo Guangbin about the reason for his hesitation: "If I let you go, Yang Jinxing will not let me go, and the crimes I have committed, I am afraid that the new government will not let me go..."
After listening, Luo Guangbin said that he could stand up and prove that Yang Qindian had indeed helped the Communist Party in its work, and also gave him a guarantee not to investigate the past and arrange work.
After getting the promise, Yang Qindian immediately handed the hammer and key to Luo Guangbin, and said: "There are still people outside, I will go out to see first, you hear me stomping three times upstairs, then hurry up and run to the mountain after going out from the door."
In this way, 19 revolutionary volunteers of our party who were detained in the White Mansion finally escaped with the help of Yang Qindian.
Fourth, after liberation, it has suffered hardships
Thus there was an explanation from Luo Guangbin to the people's government at the beginning. The explanation is nothing more than that: its nature is not bad, everything is obeyed by the orders of the superior, and the rescue of 19 revolutionaries at a critical moment is greater than the fault.
Therefore, the people's government finally waived his punishment and arranged a job for him in the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau according to the conditions of his work experience. However, Yang Qindian thought about it again and again, and finally did not accept it, because his mother in his hometown wrote a letter saying that there was no one to plant the land in the family, and asked him to go home to help.
Perhaps the deeper reason is that Yang Qindian feels that he has committed a heinous crime, and now it is good to change his life, and he does not want to ask for anything else.
In short, no matter what the reason, the people's government finally respected his wishes, and also issued him a travel fee, so that he left Chongqing safely and returned to his old home, and since then he has lived a peaceful life of "a few acres of land, a cow, a wife and children hot kiln head".

In 1958, Yang Qindian, who was already an authentic peasant, learned the news that his former leader Yang Jinxing had been arrested and shot in public trial, and he also breathed a long sigh of relief in his heart, and he was glad for his choice that year, and even more grateful for the magnanimity of the Communists.
I originally thought that this life could be passed in such a down-to-earth manner. But who could have predicted that in 1966, Yang Qindian's former secret agent identity was actually mentioned again.
On this day, the Chongqing Public Security Bureau came to Yang Qindian's village and turned Yang Qindian's home upside down, and although there was no evidence of collusion between him and the Kuomintang reactionaries, he was arrested in public and announced that he had "successfully arrested Yang Qindian, a Kuomintang agent and executioner of the White Mansion."
In this way, Yang Qindian was once again escorted back to Chongqing. He was immediately sentenced to 20 years in prison by the court and detained in the First Detention Center of Sichuan Province for reform. Due to historical reasons, the 19 people who were rescued by Yang Qindian that year were all imprisoned like him.
At that time, in order to convict these 19 people, they forced Yang Qindian to admit that he did not release these 19 people, these 19 people were the Kuomintang agents left on the mainland after the rebellion, on the grounds that everyone else was killed, why were these 19 people not killed?
But Yang Qindian insisted that these people were released by himself, no matter how he was suppressed, he insisted on biting and not letting go, which invisibly saved these 19 people.

Later, when the elderly Guo Dexian, one of the 19 people, recalled this incident, he once said with great emotion: "If he couldn't stand it at that time and said against his heart that we were not released by him, it would be a bad thing, and even if we jumped into the Yellow River, we would not be able to wash it away." ”
Fifth, the rest of your life is atonement for sin
After that, Yang Qindian stayed in prison.
However, at this time, although Yang Qindian was imprisoned, his heart was purified, and he always felt that it was a sin to kill the little radish head, and he needed such a situation to redeem himself. So he was optimistic in prison and eventually survived this very difficult period.
Only in this way, he suffered his wife and children.
During his arrest, his eldest son Yang Cunliang was implicated because of such a "secret agent" in the family, and he was originally the accountant of the production team, because Yang Qindian's matter was actually withdrawn, and his living standard dropped sharply.
Yang Qindian's wife is even more miserable, she hopes that her husband can return as soon as possible, but she does not see anyone return every day, and finally she actually accumulates worries and becomes ill, and after suffering from serious illness, she dies.
In 1982, under the run of Yang Qindian's family and those who were rescued by him after he was rehabilitated, the Chongqing Intermediate People's Court ruled Yang Qindian's acquittal.
As a result, Yang Qindian, who had been imprisoned for 16 years, was able to return home to work as a farmer and return to his relatives who were thinking about the twilight. It was only a pity that he would never see his wife again, and staring at her sad graveyard, he was very remorseful and sorry. But he never complained, because he told others more than once that he was guilty and that he deserved some retribution.
Later, Yang Qindian, accompanied by his grandson and other relatives, went to Chongqing six times in his remaining life, returning to the Geleshan Revolution Memorial Hall where he worked and committed crimes to remember the martyrs.
In 2002, 53 years after the death of Xiao Radish Head, Song Zhenhua, Xiao Radish Head's brother, and his daughter went to Henan to visit Yang Qindian, and also brought daily gifts such as cooking oil and eight treasure porridge.
At this time, Yang Qindian was 84 years old, and he was once frightened when he saw this scene in front of him, and he thought that this was to "rejuvenate the teacher and ask for guilt." At this time, Song Zhenhua also saw that the old man was a little flustered, and quickly explained that the purpose of his trip was only to understand the details of his brother's and parents' lives in prison.
After all, although Yang Qindian is a murderer, killing people is not his original intention, and he is also forced to be helpless. Therefore, for Yang Qindian, in fact, Song Zhenhua did not resent.
After hearing this, Yang Qindian calmed down, he first got up and apologized to Song Zhenhua, and then chatted with him about the little turnip head, and then the two of them also ate a lunch together. It was not until the evening that Song Zhenhua left, and Yang Qindian did not say goodbye to him with tears until he sent him to the village mouth a few miles away.
On November 27, 2004, Chongqing Held an 11.27 Massacre Memorial Service, when Yang Qindian also came to Chongqing from other places again, he was 86 years old at the time, but he still knelt in front of the tombstone, weeping and burning paper money for the martyrs, crying, while repenting: "I am sorry for you..."
In 2007, the elderly Yang Qindian passed away in his hometown at the age of 89. He has spent the rest of his life atonement for his sins, even though in the eyes of many he has done more than he has done.
