Zhang Tingyu was a famous courtier of the Three Dynasties of Kang Yonggan, but to be precise, Zhang Tingyu's career peak should be in the Yongzheng stage. At that time, although there were many good ministers under Yongzheng,but there were only these two specific people he relied on, one was the Manchu representative "Ortai" and the other was the Han representative "Zhang Tingyu". And Yongzheng also gave them the highest honor before his death, that is, to allow them to "enjoy the Taimiao Temple". Of course, both of them were all Yongzheng's famous courtiers, or good buddies, and it was not indispensable to enjoy the Taimiao Temple.
However, in comparison, the famous minister zeng guofan of the late Qing Dynasty was not so well treated. Logically speaking, Zeng Guofan is also counted as the great founder of the country, he not only established the Xiang Army, but also solved the Taiping Army, which greatly guaranteed the unity of the Qing Empire, but why could he not be worthy of the Taimiao Temple? To understand, Zeng Guofan's reputation is still relatively large compared to Zhang Tingyu and Ertailai! Before dealing with this problem, let's first figure out what is called "Taimiao".
What is the "Taimiao"? Why zhang Tingyu can deserve the Taimiao Temple
The so-called "Taimiao" actually refers to the "family ancestral hall" of the emperor of feudal society, also called "Zongmiao". The early Taimiao Temple was only a place to honor the ancestors of the emperors and the emperors of previous dynasties, and the general imperial family could not enjoy this treatment. However, with the changes of history, the tablets of queens, kings of the clans, and founders can also be enshrined in the Taimiao Temple with the permission of the emperor. Therefore, in ancient times, it was a supreme honor to be able to enjoy the Taimiao Temple after death.
And Zhang Tingyu and Ortai we mentioned above have successfully achieved this wish. However, Zeng Guofan did not receive this honor. So the question is, why did Zhang Tingyu get the qualification to enjoy the Taimiao Temple?
Zhang Tingyu, Zi Hengchen, Yan Zhai, a native of Tongcheng, Anhui, passed the examination at the age of twenty-eight. His father, Zhang Ying, was a well-known Manchu university scholar. Therefore, from here we can see that Zhang Tingyu's situation is still very, very good, from the beginning of primary and secondary school, there will be a family origin; after becoming a shangguan, his father also guides him every day and teaches him some official government and political games; coupled with his own rapid mastery, he will have the appearance of a heavy minister at a glance.
In his advantage, he basically gave the Qing Empire a seed tailored to such a beggar. Therefore, when he was thirty-five years old, he was seen by Kangxi, who said: Come to my side as a secretary! So he gave them an official title called "Zhinan Study.".
Of course, although Zhang Tingyu was deeply respected by kangxi in the Kangxi stage, his official title was not too large, and at the peak, he was just a waiter, equivalent to a high-ranking official at the deputy ministerial level today.
As we said above, the situation in which Zhang Tingyu really flew huang Tengda was when Yongzheng was in power. As soon as Yongzheng became emperor, he gave him a rebbe Shangshu, and he was immediately promoted to the rank of the main minister. However, Yongzheng did not allow him to work in the Ministry of Rites, but only left him by his side, "temporarily serving the government service".
Therefore, during the thirteen years that Yongzheng was in power, Zhang Tingyu had been Yongzheng's grand secretary. Since he was Yongzheng's internal minister, of course, there was no need to say the official title, for example, the top military minister, who was also a scholar of the Bohol Temple, hung up the title of Taibao, and then took charge of the official department and the household department. It should be understood that the Ceremonial Department and the Household Department were the two most important units among the six ministries at that time, one in charge of the personnel department and the other in charge of money. Therefore, of course, Zhang Tingyu's influence is also high.
In addition, Zhang Tingyu and Yongzheng's "personal relationship" is also very good. Of course, it was the traditional style of the emperors of the Qing Dynasty, who loved to put on shows, so Yongzheng would often produce some very dramatic scenes for the historians and courtiers to praise and let others know that such a "courtier relationship" was such a harmonious relationship. However, what we need to understand is that Zhang Tingyu can often enjoy the Taimiao Temple, not only because of his relationship with Yongzheng. Because even if it is an iron relationship, if he does not have any real ability, he will have to be eliminated and eliminated. What skills did That Zhang Tingyu have to get such favors?
What is incorruptible, not to accept bribes, not to be corrupt and bribed, do not raise Xiaosan, this basic we will not say more; more crucially, Zhang Tingyu is a person who works very hard and is still very good at doing it. We know that Yong was a rare iron-fisted emperor of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, and he worked very hard under his rule, and he did not fall asleep until two or three o'clock in the morning. It is not too practical to carry out great work in a relatively limited time, let alone yongzheng alone, so he must have a person who is very good at doing it to help him.
Therefore, Zhang Tingyu's efficacy was revealed. For example, Yongzheng wanted to send a fold to a heavy minister, but he did not know how to organize the language expression, so he said some "randomly", but Zhang Tingyu could understand the meaning of Yongzheng and quickly wrote out the song chapter. Every time Yongzheng looked at it, he would happily say: This is what you mean, and it will be uploaded immediately. Such talent is outstanding, and the extraordinary literary talent has to be admired!
In addition, Zhang Tingyu also worked very hard. He had been an officer for more than fifty years, and he had been in charge of the Military Aircraft Department alone for twenty-four years, persevering every day to work before dawn and returning home very late. It is worth mentioning that his memory ability is very strong, whether you are a feudal official or a relatively small bureaucratic capitalism below, he does not care about the location of each person's household registration, origin, resume, and job. It can indeed be called the "Baidu" of the Yongzheng Emperor.
Of course, this is all a superficial overall strength, and although it is important, it is not the most reliable reason why the emperor has feelings for you. So what is the most solid reason? That is, he never competed with the emperor for the "name of the descendants". Everyone understands that in history, many important ministers often did not have a good death, and one of the key reasons was that they loved to express themselves too much, and they have been competing with the emperor for the "name of posterity".
Why did Zeng Guofan not deserve the Taimiao Temple
Dealing with such a successful person, how could the Yongzheng Emperor not be blue-eyed, and how could he not deserve the honor of the Taimiao Temple for his good brother?
Looking back at Zeng Guofan, although he was a famous courtier in the late Qing Dynasty and the "guardian" of Cixi's mother and daughter, the rights he had were still relatively large, very military power. Although the Manchu Qing dynasty was a feudal dynasty with a very serious monarchy, as far as the characteristics of the times at that time were concerned, Cixi still did not favor Zeng Guofan too much, and it was possible to be wary. Although Zeng Guofan was a courtier, to be precise, he was supposed to be a Confucian general. Zhang Tingyu is a thorough courtier, so I think it may also be out of this level of consideration.
The highest is the "name of posterity" that we talked about above. I won't say much about this, and you are very clear. Therefore, in summary, it is why Zhang Tingyu can enjoy the Taimiao Temple, and Zeng Guofan cannot deserve the Taimiao Temple!
