The success of a writer is inseparable from the care and help of many famous writers in the literary world. The same is true for Xie Bingying, a well-known "female soldier writer" at home and abroad, and in Xie Bingying's unforgettable friendship, Liu Yazi is one of the most important ones.

Xie Bingying and Liu Yazi's unforgettable friendship

Young Xie Bingying

One

When the female writer Xie Bingying first met Liu Yazi, she was already famous in the literary world for her works such as "Diary of a Soldier", but, in her later words, at that time, "it was a bit like a country girl who first entered the city and felt uneasy." It's not that I'm timid, it's that I've never visited a celebrity in such a formal way."

According to the customs of the literati at that time, Liu Yazi, who was in his forties, was a figure who could be called a "big guy" in the poetry world. However, he is still so kind and sincere to young people. Xie Bingying, who first saw Liu Yazi, actually had such a feeling: "It's really like a child is so happy to see his long-lost mother!" According to many people's recollections, although Liu Yazi can write poetry, he has the problem of stuttering. Sometimes I get excited, and it takes a long pause for a sentence to continue. And Xie Bingying, because she was naughty when she was a child, liked to imitate the stuttering people to speak, and the result was that she learned to come true, and she also unconsciously contracted this problem. After a long time, although this problem was corrected, when people who stuttered spoke, they could not help but laugh, and sometimes even laughed for a long time. Perhaps because of admiration and respect, Xie Bingying did not have the idea of laughing at Liu Yazi's stuttering. Just seeing that Liu Yazi was sometimes speechless, knowing what he wanted to say, like a naughty junior, helping him to continue.

"Diary of a Soldier" by Xie Bingying

Once acquainted, Xie Bingying and Liu Yazi felt particularly close. For a period of time, Xie Bingying lived in the Liu family, and she was also close to Liu Yazi's wife, Zheng Jingyi, and her children were unscrupulous, unscrupulous, and innocent. People who saw this described: "Liu Yazi and Xie Bingying are not father and daughter, but like father and daughter." In Xie Bingying's eyes, Liu Yazi is a person who does not obey the old and always pursues the young. In the initial correspondence after they met, Xie Bingying called Liu "elder" according to the custom, but Liu Yazi was not happy to accept it; Xie Bingying took a step back and called him "Sir", but Liu Yazi was still unhappy, and had to call Xie Bingying by his name to be happy. In Xie Bingying's view, on the one hand, this shows Liu Yazi's modesty, on the other hand, it can be clearly seen how much he likes to be "young".

Shortly after the two met, they met Xie Bingying's birthday. At that time, Xie was only in his 20s, but Liu Yazi still wrote lyrics in accordance with the habits of the old literati. These are the two poems "Langtaosha Shou Bingying" that was later published in the February 1933 "New Era Monthly":

Stunts are good at red makeup, short pen long guns, Wen Ru martial arts all-in-one. Qingshi talents are all Lulu, Fu Cai Qin Liang.

The old dream is broken, and it is difficult to fly with broken wings; the Central Plains are still a war field! Females and males should fly for a day, and Mo Is sad.

The first year is given to the make-up, and now into the peach; the red dust game is harmless. Yan Fu Tan Lang Wu was also jealous and tried to help the general.

Young heroes and heroines, children and daughters, family friendship town unforgettable. Shou Ru hated the Peerless Dagger and was ashamed of the poetry bag.

The lyrics not only praised Xie Bingying's "short pen and long gun, Wen Ru martial arts all right." At the same time, he is also "ashamed of his "hatred of the peerless dagger". It can be seen that Xie Bingying believes that he likes the understanding of "youth" is indeed right.

Liu Yazi

Two

In 1933, Xie Bingying and her lover symbol at the time had an emotional rift, and at one point, Xie Bingying even wanted to commit suicide in pain. After Liu Yazi knew, she talked to Xie Bingying many times, sincerely advised her, encouraged her to use her reason to overcome her emotions and external environment, and not to sacrifice her promising future in vain! During such an extraordinary period, Liu Yazi's persuasion gave Xie Bingying great spiritual support, which freed her from the emotional shadow.

Later, Xie Bingying met her new "Witte" (Xie called her lover by the protagonist of Goethe's famous book "The Troubles of Young Werther"), and her first thought was to inform Liu Yazi. When she took her "Werther" to see Liu Yazi, Liu Yazi was very happy. As soon as I was happy, the stuttering became even worse, and I could not speak for a few minutes. As a result, the guest invited Liu Yazi to sit down, and the old man let go of his hand. But Yanako's happiness was expressed in the handshake. When Xie Bingying and them left, her "Wei Te" said: "I have never met an old man as enthusiastic as Mr. Yazi, you see how strong his hand is, I am hurt by his grip." ”

Later, when Xie Bingying wrote a letter to inform Liu Yazi of the news of her combination with "Wei Te", Liu Yazi was very happy, and actually wrote a poem in her dream, and immediately got up in the middle of the night to record the poem and send it to the past. The poem begins with:

"Ten days and three summonses, open and ecstatic."

Xie Bingying later understood that this was to describe the happiness and comfort after he knew that the spirit of "I" had sustenance. There is also a sentence like this in the poem:

"Bing Ying pays Ru today, so as to protect the red face."

Xie Bingying's "Wei Te" read these two sentences, smiled happily and said, "This is simply a poem written by The Father-in-Law to his son-in-law!" Hearing this, Xie Bingying was also proud to have such an old man who cared for and protected herself.

In 1935, Xie Bingying went to Japan again to study Western literature at waseda University Research Institute. Her wish at the time was: "Study Japanese for three more years, and then put Goethe, Tolstoy, Romain Rolland, Balzac... All the masterpieces of these writers whom I most admire have been introduced to China. However, this wish was shattered by the Japanese authorities.

One night in April 1936, Xie Bingying had just returned to her residence after studying Japanese, when she was caught by Japanese detectives and taken to the Meguro District Police Station. The reason for the arrest was that when the Japanese detectives interrogated the students' attitude toward Puyi (Ba Jin, Liang Zongdai, etc. in Japan had also been interrogated before), Xie Bingying replied: "Puyi, what is it, but a traitor who has been scolded by all the Chinese." Because of this attitude, the Japanese authorities locked her up for three weeks. In prison, Xie Bingying was severely beaten and left with a lifelong headache. Liu Yazi in China saw in the newspaper that Xie Bingying was an "international socialist activist" and had been arrested, and quickly took a telegram urging the Chinese Consulate in Japan and the Study Abroad Supervision Office at that time to bail her. This saved Xie Bingying from prison. Xie Bingying later recalled that at that time, people saw Xie Bingying so strong that they thought she was a Communist Party, so if it were not for Liu Yazi's telegram, the consul in Japan at that time would not dare to bail her out of prison, for fear of being "red".

After returning to China that year, just as Liu Yazi was on his fiftieth birthday, Xie Bingying wrote a "Mr. Yazi I Know" at the request of the newspaper. In the article, Xie Bingying combined her feelings and made this description of Liu Yazi's spirit:

"Admittedly, mr. Yazi, who is flattered by ordinary people, is not only a wise and erudite 'talented', but also a sentimental, enthusiastic poet... Over the years, although he has not published many words shouting revolutionary slogans, he has helped many young people in difficult situations and rescued many soldiers in prison. ”

This last sentence is a personal experience in Xie Bingying.

Xie Bingying's Autobiography of a Female Soldier

Three

In 1937, Xie Bingying, a "female soldier" who participated in the Northern Expedition, came to Changsha to mobilize women to serve the wounded on the front line and organized the establishment of the Hunan Women's Field Service Group. On the evening of October 2, Xie Bingying came to Liu Yazi's house. Liu Yazi thanked the woman for yingwu and immediately gave a poem: "Send Xie Bingying to the Front Line":

Three years of not dating, the spirit is still the same.

Annihilating the enemy returned early and drank Huanglong wine bitterly.

Another important interaction between Xie Bingying and Liu Yazi took place in 1942. Xie Bingying had a daughter with her former lover, and later her lover was arrested, and she had to live alone with her daughter. At that time, Xie Bingying took her daughter from Beiping to her lover's home in Wuhan, planning to serve her elderly mother and raise her children. Unexpectedly, at that time, the newspaper and periodicals had almost no remuneration, and No matter how fast Xie's pen was, he could not return to basic food. There was no way, so he wanted to go back to his mother's house to rescue. When she went out, her daughter's grandmother suddenly changed her mind and sent people around to intercept and carry the child back. From this parting, Xie Bingying and her daughter could not see each other for more than ten years.

In the spring of 1942, Xie Bingying, who was in Chengdu, met another female writer with a similar name, Xie Bingxin, and the two saw each other as they were. Bing Ying unabashedly stated her life scene to Bing Xin, and she was extremely sad about not being able to see her daughter. Bingxin, who is full of love and childlike heart, is very much in favor of visiting his daughter as soon as possible to connect the blood. This made Xie Bingying burst out of her passion for leaving home to join the army. She immediately made up her mind: she immediately rushed to Guilin to visit her own daughter, who had been separated from her for twelve years.

First of all, Xie Bingying wrote a letter to Liu Yazi, who was taking refuge in Guilin, asking him to plan and mediate for him. Then, she flew to Guilin with books such as "Sending Little Readers", "Education of Love", "Scarecrow", "One Thousand and One Nights", and even "Zhuangzi", "History", and "Leaving Sorrows", ready to repay the long-term "debt" of love to her daughter who loves to read.

In order to avoid conflict with her daughter's grandmother, Liu Yazi arranged a banquet at the Ronghu Restaurant in Guilin, hoping to connect Xie Bingying's mother and daughter here, and to allow her daughter to live with her mother so that she could receive more preferential treatment and a good education. However, the 13-year-old daughter, due to the special living environment, read a lot of books and formed some of her own understanding, so this meeting and conversation did not go well. The daughter finally did not leave with her mother, but Liu Yazi, who witnessed all this, had a blue eye for the little woman. He immediately wrote a poem and made a high praise for Xie Bingying's daughter:

Poor petite thirteen years old, the young phoenix is clear to the old phoenix. Classmate Li Jiang sad Guo Zhu, si pro Shu Road obstruction Bingying.

……

In 1948, Xie Bingying was hired by Taiwan Normal College (the predecessor of Taiwan Normal University) to teach. What she did not expect was that she never set foot on the land of the mainland again. Perhaps because of this factor, in the "Selected Poems of Liu Yazi" published in 1959, many of the poems he wrote to Xie Bingying were not recorded. In the political context of the time, this seemed understandable. However, Xie Bingying had never forgotten Liu Yazi. When interviewed by reporters decades later, she had a section of her answer, which involved this old friend: "My friend is a famous scholar, he has written many, many books, surnamed Liu, called Liu Yazi..." Of course, Xie Bingying's "Mr. Yazi I Know" was more refined because of the close time: "Once he said a sentence that touched me the most, and I can never forget: 'Although I am old, I cannot directly participate in the new society construction movement, but in any case, I want to help everyone as much as possible... He said this with such a serious attitude, and the tone of his voice was so sincere and resolute that the listener felt infinite excitement. Yes, Mr. Yazi is such an 'old' teenager with new ideas, a forward spirit and a strong will, an 'old' revolutionary writer! ”

Such an impression is also accurate today. Such an accurate impression, of course, can only be obtained from friends who are similar to each other. From this point of view, Xie Bingying and Liu Yazi are friends who understand and understand each other. They wrote and wrote poems, and their friendships were validated.
