At present, the total number of ancient books treasured by the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences exceeds 130,000 volumes, including many rare and rare treasures, such as the YuanMing Manuscript "Tongzhi" engraved by Yuan Dade Sanshan County, the Ming Zhengde inscribed "Qingfeng Ancestral Record", the Ming Jiajing engraved "WenShi", the Qing manuscript "Guangdong GongshiLu", etc., as well as a large number of rare Ming and Qing inscriptions, manuscript manuscripts, and famous scholar-approved school inscriptions. Among them, 58 kinds of ancient books were selected into the "Guangdong Provincial Precious Ancient Books Directory" and 4 kinds of ancient books were selected into the "National Precious Ancient Books Directory".
According to reports, in recent years, the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences has overcome various difficulties such as large collections and insufficient personnel, completed the census and registration of ancient books in the collection, the directory of ancient books at the national and provincial levels, and the declaration of key units, and made remarkable achievements in the protection of ancient books.
In November 2011, the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences was awarded the "Guangdong Provincial Key Protection Unit for Ancient Books"; in 2015, the declaration of "National Key Protection Unit for Ancient Books" was launched, and more than 4 million yuan was invested successively to build a special collection of ancient books that meet national standards, independently develop a digital platform for ancient books, and actively participate in the sharing and release of ancient books digital resources of the National Library (National Center for the Protection of Ancient Books). In July this year, Guangdong Province's "Census and Registration Catalogue of Ancient Books in the Libraries of Various Academies of Sciences" came into effect and was officially published by the National Library of China.

Guo Yuewen, secretary of the party leading group of the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences, said in his speech at the scene that the academy should take the opportunity and motivation of winning the "National Key Protection Unit for Ancient Books" to meticulously do a good job in the protection of ancient books, establish and improve the asset management system of ancient book resources, and enhance the ability to protect them; it is necessary to do a good job in excavating and sorting out ancient books, researching and interpreting them, and enriching the historical and cultural nourishment of the whole society; it is necessary to actively cultivate and expand the echelon of ancient book talents, so that more outstanding young talents can devote themselves to the cause of ancient book protection, research and utilization It is necessary to humbly learn from the key protection units of ancient books in the province and even the whole country, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and jointly contribute to the promotion of the inheritance and protection of the ancient books in Lingnan, the census and protection and utilization of Lingnan cultural resources, and the inheritance and development project of China's excellent traditional culture.
In recent years, China has achieved results in strengthening the protection of ancient books. Since the implementation of the "Chinese Ancient Books Protection Plan" in 2007, China has successively selected and published 6 batches of the "National Precious Ancient Books Directory", accumulatively including 13,026 ancient books, and named 6 batches of 203 "National Ancient Books Key Protection Units". At present, a total of 342 ancient books in Guangdong Province have been selected into the National Precious Ancient Books List.
At the symposium on "Inheritance and Protection of Lingnan Ancient Book Context", experts from public libraries and scientific research institutions in the province conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as correctly handling the relationship between the protection and utilization of ancient books, accelerating the census and restoration of ancient books, creating a team of ancient book protection and restoration talents, and improving the digitization level of ancient books, so as to jointly open the pulse for the inheritance and protection of Lingnan ancient books.
