Seventeen members of the research association first came to Yantai Library in less than two weeks to inquire about materials, and read more than ten articles about Yantai such as "The Writer's Childhood", "Three Little Readers", "Little Orange Lantern", "Yantai is My True Story", "Jingou Zhai" and so on; After that, he listened to the lectures of Shan Man, deputy editor-in-chief of Jiaodong Literature and Yantai folklore expert, on the study of Bingxin, and visited the training camp, small wharf, Jingou Village, Fort, Grape Mountain and other places full of Bingxin's childhood memories. On this basis, everyone drew the results of the investigation into a "Roadmap of Ice Heart Footprints", and spent three months writing fourteen articles such as "Yantai, the Hometown of Bingxin's Grandmother", "Childhood Bingxin's Love for the Motherland", "Bingxin Childhood is a Small Reading Fan", and articles comparing the past and present in various parts of Yantai, and finally compiled into a pamphlet called "Bingxin Childhood Research Anthology".

Teacher Liu Lihua, who is now nearly 80 years old, recalled: "At that time, the children thought: How can they know whether this sketch is accurate? Why not write to Grandma Bingxin and ask. On May 13, the students finally made up their minds to write a letter to Grandma Bingxin and put the precious footprint map into it. In an era when communication was not yet convenient, no one could guarantee the success of delivery, let alone expect to receive a reply letter from Beijing.

A piece of paper came from the capital. Half a month later, it coincided with Children's Day. "Grandma Bingxin has replied!" Upon hearing this news, the entire Nanshan Road Primary School boiled over. At the Children's Day conference, Liu Lihua personally read out a letter from Grandma Bingxin. The students were inspired and rejoiced, and one letter after another to Grandma Bingxin continued to fly towards Beijing like snowflakes. They regard Grandma Bingxin as a close friend, and in the letter they pour out to her the troubles of life and growth, ask for advice on writing methods, and tell her love and persistence in literature.

In order to express his gratitude and love for Grandma Bingxin, Liu Lihua gathered the children together, asked them for advice, and selected gifts for Grandma Bingxin. "If you want to give it, give us a gift with local characteristics!" I heard that Fujian people like daffodils, and she will definitely like them too!" The children came up with a lot of ideas, and finally chose a daffodil pot depicting a small crab pattern and a bag of pebbles that everyone personally collected at the beach as a gift for Grandma Bingxin.
